If you're serious Chip i'd let you have a go as the ITB build is going to be pulled down and the crank/rods sent for full dynamic balancing. It deffo won't be something I want to do just yet though as I plan to just enjoy it next year. Telling the missus i want to spend another £3k on "That...
For the first time (in a long time) I'm actually happy with the car. It's always been run and mapped by Paul so the gains are consistent. Just from driving it you can feel the car has totally changed character on this inlet which for me is a small triumph as a lot of people hate it.
I am not...
The standard profile is pretty decent though. The RS2 just doesn't seem to respond to wild cams as well as ITB's do Nick but you are right.
I must admit I'd like to see what mine does on Surrey's dyno as it's another respected setup.
Erm I'd say yes but we may get black flagged using a crate and a bungie chord lol. Afraid not... because it only has one seat.
I may let you take it out though if you promise not to set it on fire!
Phase 1 uses KLine (KWP2000) for all transmissions where as the Ph2 is CAN (it does still retain KLine for diag purposes) but your scanner cannot communicate as it's most likely purely CAN compliant
Not many road cars with chassis and suspension like these ;-)
The racers were faster to but I guess RSport had a supply of Grp N F7R's sat ready and waiting.
One of the few cars I'd honestly like to own but not before an R8 Gordini.
Tim, I knew I had the 197 cams timed there or there abouts but I had this constant niggle in the back of my mind that the timing wasn't quite right (it was greedy on fuel) and as timing changes, map tweeks aren't simple I decided to take a set of 421's in part payment for a job to get rid of...
Just got back from RS Tuning... I was shocked at the first run of 183hp then the second run saw 201hp but after I stopped running round like an excited kid I realised that was a spike on the rollers (All them torques yo!) but the final result after some minor tweeks was 196hp with 152lb/ft. so...
Just the cams and the inlet manifold matched. I'm expecting a loss of torque spread with the 421's over the 197's but hoping for an increase in peak power.
I don't think anyone has tried 421's with an RS2 before though so it may not respond well with them.
Never actually replaced one I'm afraid as I have a box of rubber rings that do the job for cheap.
They allow air to just sneak past when cold which causes an annoying chirp/whistle (the seals expand slightly when warm so it shuts up).
Just poor fitment (eg. Too long).
There will be loads of people there with tools and spares so don't talk like Dave. If it breaks we can fix it... make it stronger... better... faster!
Seriously though sign up, you will love it.
