As per Ash's response, if there is demand we will more than happily look into it.
I recall Jon.G looked at doing one, but there just wasn't the numbers willing to do it, and to make a RR day worthwhile, we need a reasonable number of people.
Not sure where Ash was thinking of ringing, but my...
The headlight failed because it was basically pointing up and into the middle of the road!
Short circuit was on the ciggy lighter.
Yeah cost wise, I've kept it reasonably well controlled. Plenty of bargains have been had.
Paint: I'll be taking it down when the car has an MOT (basically when it's road legal)
Cost: Ask Barclaycard! LOL... it's decent E46 M3 money.
Fail list: electrical issues (fuses blowing due to a short circuit) Springs (coilovers wound too far down) and the headlights need aligning.
So yeah, as some of you know, the E21 unfortunately failed it's MOT on the Saturday just passed.
Happily the issues it had appear to be sorted, and it'll be getting retested in time for Trax.
For now, a couple of photos from the other day, where the car received a nice in depth detail...
Why didn't you just buy one on the day?
Or are you just saying you bought it, so you can pretend it didn't turn up, then bail on us on Saturday morning?
Yes, it is now fully "finished" (I'll use the term finished loosely, it's actually a rolling project more than anything else) as some of you will know.
I took some photos tonight, but they're on my camera and I'm not at home until tomorrow. It goes for it's MOT tomorrow, so I'll be out and...
Cheers for all the kind comments :)
As Pete says, leaving them with the bumper off is very rare, rarer still on a Series 1.
Anyway, I personally think it looks a lot better without, single headlights and the sharknose gives a real nod to the 2002.
Nothing as yet, I'm undecided on the engine...
So, the final push happened the other day.
I noticed a leak on the rear seat/carpet behind the drivers seat.
Looked up to see this:
Causing this:
That was immediately dealt with in the form of some silicone.
After that I started putting the final bits and pieces back together. Carpeted...
Great news!
The master cylinder rebuild has worked, or it certainly seems to have done. The brakes work like they used to, and a test drive confirms that the problem would seem to have been solved.
This meant I could press on with the interior, I got the waterproof skin on the inside of the...
Today Jon.G and I headed down to Prescott Hill for the Retro Rides Gathering.
I'd heard great things about it and wasn't disappointed, the weather was great and the cars on show were fantastic, wonderful variety.
A few photos from the day:
The engine bay was sublime on this BMW E21 316...
Yeah, the paint I bought was just flat sliver unfortunately, a bit of a shame, but the whole point of this was to decide if I actually like the wheels. If I do, they'll get a proper refurb. (The home jobbie has only cost me £70 or so)
The M/C is rebuilt and back in the car, it needs bench...
Master cylinder rebuilt yesterday.
Pistons rebuilt with new seals:
All reassembled, ready for bench bleeding and refitting:
Wheels were flatted down, and then the final coat of base:
Then a few coats of lacquer:
Few running issues with my daily at the moment, so I've got 2 BMW's...
Dunno what it's like for E30's but there is a BMW Classic Parts website, run by BMW (iirc):
http://shop.bmw-classic.com/index-ClassicDE-WFS-en_EU-EUR.html
No idea if it'll be any use to you, but they do stock E30 parts, and as far as I know, they come direct from BMW. The diagrams on there are...
