I've done some research and yes, as feared it looks 99% likely to be a failed master cylinder.
To add to the confusion, there are 3 M/C's, one main, with 2 ports, and 2 in the boosters, each with just 1 port.
New M/C's from BMW are €476 which I'm not going to be paying, so tonight I'll bleed...
Yeah I know, we thought we had done it, but possibly a bleed nipple has been left slightly open.
There are some other things it might be, including the master cylinder, which is a common failure on E21's.
Those discs will have nothing to do with the problems I've got, Jon.
Rusty discs don't cause the pedal to require pumping to stop the car.
Rob, yes the 323i had a vented disc option. Pointless on mine, I'll upgrade to Brembos/Willwoods if I do the engine swap.
Dropped the coilovers all the way down at the front.
Here you can see the issue with lowering old BMW's, they don't go all the way down. So custom springs might be needed.
The rear needs playing with too, but it does look so much better for being lower.
My mate came over in his HSD'd M3...
It might well be 6 weeks off yet, but Trax 2013 will be upon us before we know it.
For those who have never been, it's a great show and has a very large number of cars to see, some good... others not so much!
Have a look here for more information: http://www.traxshows.co.uk/
I will be...
Right okay, I have contacted the organisers for Trax and they do have official camping this year.
It's at Whittlebury Park, which is where I believe it was last year.
The cost is £12 per person, per night.

I can't be of any help whatsoever, but why the hell did they leave the engine running?!
Are they genuinely that lazy, that turning the key was just that little bit too much effort?
No that's fine, it was only so I could sort something out for the NW lot. I'll ring some campsites, and see if anyone is taking bookings for male groups.
This times a billion.
If you flick through eBay/PH/AT you'll find bucketfuls of cars that will do around 28-35mpg or so. They're often cheap as anything, because people are running out and buying a car that runs on the fumes of petrol for 500 miles.
A guy on PH bought a Saab 9-5 HOT for £460...
So, one week in.
It's been lovely, not really done much other than my daily commute in it. Already looking for a few little upgrades for it, nothing massive though.
It's also averaged 32.1 MPG, over a mix of motorway, dual carriageway, A and B road driving. I've also not really been hanging...
Very nice.
We need to get the CS NW 3 series together.
We've got:
Me: E21
You: E30
Oli (he is technically on here): E36
Jon.G: E46
BIFCAIDS (Mike): E90
Someone from Bolton way has an F30 too.
Would make a decent photo opportunity :)
Today was supposed to be another mega productive day, get loads done and get the car close to being finished.
I came home this morning and was nearly sick when I saw this:
It had collapsed during some storms last night. By what I can only describe as a miracle, the car is completely...
So my new brake lines arrived yesterday.
They're custom lines from HEL.
The quality of them is sublime, they really do look and feel like a very premium product.
Hopefully get them fitted this weekend.
I love it. I'll have to get some pictures of the Clio, because you cannot appreciate just how s**t it was.
To drive, the E39 is effortless, still getting used to a floor mounted pedal, but other than that, it just pulls along so easily. The engine has a lovely sound to it, nicely muffled, as...
