Plenty of opinion about this if you search.
I swapped all four from pilot exalto 2's (205/45) to contisports (195/45) last year - the ride seems a bit firmer but I'd be lying if I said I could notice anything significantly different about grip or handling.
all you can do is drive it. The rears just take longer to "scrub in" (not sure its the exact tecnical term but you know what I mean) because they do less work. For a while the fronts will be a lot grippier than the rears, try swapping them front to back after 500 miles, if you can be arsed!
new tyres can make car feel like its on castors for first few hundred miles, its mainly the rears that take longer to scrub up and drive out the mould release agent (or is that an urban myth?). Anyway, it can take a while for new tyres to begine feeling sharp. Just my experience.
I agree with Montana, same front and back, anything between 30 and 35 will work fine and depends on which tyre (and how worn it is - see below) what will work best.
One interesting thing I've found that I've not really heard others mention - I find worn tyes like higher pressure than new...
195/45 R16 is the standard tyre size. With 7 inch wide rims it can be argued that the 195 width is a little stretched because 195's are usually specced for 6 or 6.5 inch wheels on other small sporty hatches. Presumably Renault wanted to give the 172 a stiff tyre for lively steering and to...
If you have level ground its easy. I'll probably get flamed by some of you guys on here, but here goes....
Tools:
Tape measure.
Steel straight edges x 2 (such as 24 inch steel rules)
Elastic bands
laser level (doesnt have to be a known accuracy, just repeatable, mine was 20 quid)
Basics of toe...
My thoughts.... have a go setting it yourself.
Its not as big a deal to DIY it than is often made out. I used my days off this xmas to adjust camber and toe to find what worked best for me on damp winter roads and each time I went out to road test the steering was 100% dead centred, so my...
I've tried the budget end of so-called "upgraded" pads and the mintex 1144's and ebc yellowstuff were both fine pads... but, seriously, no better at resisting fade than the O/E brembo's I chose this time. The wife has O/E pagid on her puma and they stand up to fairly heavy road use when I get to...
You and I are thinking the same.... but...
I said the rear axle points left. And that is correct. I said it will steer the car to the right, and that is correct also (think fork-lifts).
But we both agree on the result. :)
All I'm going on is the print-out. And from that i would expect the car...
Yep.
I would want to know what the caster is measuring on either side, in that case. The Hunter system can measure this, so I'm wondering why they have not done that on your car? Ask them.
does it wander to the left, i.e pull itself that way, or does it drive straight and true but with the steering wheel off-centre? Agree with Chip - check steering is centred by applying full lock to lock (should be eaqual), it will help diagnose.
From the print-out of the settings it has quite a...
A noticeable performance difference then... (Decats cannot eat Lambdas on a clio. LOL.)
Ok, so no noticeable performance difference then? Which is it?
A frosty morning vs a humid afternoon makes more differece to a clio's power delivery than an exhaust mod.
This thread breaks me!:dead:
Before buying a new ABS wheel sensor, check its not covered in grease from the C/V joint. Was the case with mine, the clip holding the gaitor on was broken so throwing all its grease out all over the inside of the wheel and back of the hub carrier (where the sensor and reluctor ring are).
I'd second everything Wick said aout the RS192. Good review. Its supposed to be a quieter system but is a wee bit boomy rather than raspy and that may divide opinion as to whether or not it sounds good. It's certainly not loud but it doesn't sound particularly good either! :dapprove: The fitting...
I have standard Brembo discs and pads, more than good enough for me.
Standards OK if everything is working right. I instantly improved a lack of bite and long pedal feel on my 182's brakes a shortly after buying it by cleaning/freeing the pads and caliper moving parts and bleeding through new...
I would listen to people who know their stuff when it comes to engine tuning, not just the marketting stuff you get all over the internet, car comics and especially on the forums.
Designing an exhaust is more in-depth than just removing all restrictions to improve flow. Plenty of manufacturers...
sheared c/v joint? That would do what you describe. But this or diff failure is unlikely to have just happened without warning though. Any warning leading up to this?

^this would be my choice^ I think wherever brembo disc for the clio are listed they are the HC's... unless proven wrong?
So many insulters on here it's embarassing.
I like 172 cups. But if you arn't drawn to the appeal of either the simpler maintenance or more hardcore driving experience then that's up to you.
I would sell rather than swap. I've never swapped a car and never will. Reason being I'm sceptical of...
All this seems really unfair to the OP, regardless of the posters history, in my opinion.
OK, so perhaps he should not have implied any fault of K-Tec at the outset (he has admitted this now as far as I can tell), but all he has asked is if this is the gain he should be expecting and, in a...
are the "HC" discs not just their OE disc (as compared to their groved "max")? I ask as I have Brembo HC's on now and will look to replace them like-for-like at some point and see that prices vary from £30 pair up to £70+.
As you say, there is very little choice.

And ^^^^ these are'nt even the standard size! but they will fit fine
I'm no expert on clios but... Doub't very much its an injector problem. See how the new coil does, then look at crank or MAP sensor. An earlier post said that getting a propper code reader would save money long run... I agree with that, but would would have to be a specialist for me.
If the...
It clearly is not right, is it? The angle of the join between the cat and the start of the system is off quite a bit. Just something other potential buyers should be aware of.
I think I can fix it by taking the cat off and joining it to the system first, then re-doing the cat-manifold joint...
Are you sure the ecu only reads water temp for rev limit?
What map is the OP talking about? I bought my 182 with a K-Tech "group N" remap that was fitted by its first owner years ago, it revs to nearly 8 (only tried once, nevver again!) and wish it didn't...
edit reason: explanation - I wish...
