Cant see anything on my rears, perhaps because there too old? But my fronts have two paint marks, about an inch long, easily seen if you rub clean the second coil up from the lower platform (Nothing in the cars history says my springs have been replaced)
Sorry if I'm telling to you something you already know - As supplied by Renault, the cup suspension pack is more than just springs. Best accepted way of checking is measuring the bolt spacing on the front strut/hub carrier. 60 mm = cup (a non-cup is less distance).
The springs themselves are...
I would still be inclined to think your wheels have not been balanced properly.
Last time I had tyres fitted, at a garage I had never used before (through Blackcircles), my steering wobbled badly. I took it back asking them to do it again and it was still just as bad, if not worse! Took it to...
Are you sure cup and non-cup 182 rears shocks are different? If they were different from new, are Renault still supplying different parts?
What part no did you get? I was supplied 8200 681125, this from renault for my cupped (listed as "extreme") 182.
I would not bother swapping anything else...
I only had difficulty with the pinch bolt being seised. You shouldn't have any issues with the driveshafts popping out now that you are aware of it. If you have dificulty with anything just post up.
Kev
If its from around the bolts it won't need a new gasket (sealant actually). You may have fed them a reason to charge you a load of labour for removing the cam cover when it just needs a "cheap fix" as you put it (I would just wipe it clean, take it for a drive and find which bolt is weeping oil...
^ yup, time to rule out your bottom ball-joints by levering with a large jemmy bar between the arm and the hub-carrier knuckle. If any vertical movement then it needs replacing (it could just be un-tight but its more likely to be seised in the pinch bolt than be loose in my experience)
Makes perfect sense that handling is improved with less engine movement. Glad you guys are finding that, might have to be my next task as I'm sure my clutch take-up is less precise recently, I'm on 70k now
Sorry to hear that. I read through that thread and was puzzled why only one person suggested the caliper is sticking. Your discs and pads were relatively new, they were not faulty when they were fitted, so how did they become damaged? (don't take "warped" as a literal term, discs do not warp...
PE2's have normal amount, about 8mm.
Porsche have a habit of speccing their cars with bespoke rubber. Sounds like the Porsche would have been wearing Michelin Pilot Sport Cups if they only had 4mm new. http://www.michelin.co.uk/tyres/michelin-pilot-sport-cup
...and no, theyr'e not available...
If your dampers are original they will not be in good order. 5 min job to take rear ones off then fully compress and extend them by hand to check if they are functioning right. My guess is they will be shot. Will feel much better with new renault bits.
Didn't think Bilstein B6 or B8 is...
I've notcied so many guys on here are always so keen to spout their wisdom and criticise others - truth is, we all do what we feel is right for ourselves and our cars, and that is fine. Any rs clio is a performance bargain!:approve:
Cruel luck. Chin-up mate!
Please don't burry your head. You have the car now and that its that. As has been said, you should not have spent that for a 182, loads of guys on here trying to sell their "mint" examples for less than you paid etc...
It runs now, it will be fine! Just do not skimp...
Anyone who knows renault part numbers for shocks (dampers)? Why have they changed recently? A dealer gave me:
8200681125 as a rear shock for a cup packed 182. A search showed this is what is currectly right part but the shocks that came off had 82003428640 B and KYB stamped on.
Has Renault got...
Hi. Do you know what car they are from? The offset (et) is fine, its the same as 172 cup turini's, but not exactly "right" - but then its not necessarilly a case of right and wrong and will depend on what you want really.
For them to physically mount right you need to know the PCD (pitch centre...
I would have been convinced of a broken coil spring but any MOT tester would surely have spotted that. If it were mine I would be checking myself to be sure, looking at the very ends of the coils where they seat. Do you have pics of how it sits?
In my opinion you could get that price down to well under 4k if you don't have a part-ex to consider. It's unlikely to get snapped up by anyone else at that asking price, its a buyers market at the moment. Most important thing is the belts, budget £600 for this alone if you don't have proof...
Welcome!
System fits well and looks good quality, I'm sure someone will be able to say what is is for sure, but I could only guess... so I won't! Par-for-the-course to have a stainless exhaust on these cars as we are very limited in availability of patern ones and Renault will rob you blind for...
100% agree with that ^
I didn't think much was wrong with mine when I bought it but, having heard rear shocks don't lass well, I replaced them... they were actually totally shot and car felt much sharper when replaced.
If your happy you have tight car with correct alignment, look at getting...
It takes all of 10 seconds to pull out the "plunger" on the brake pedal switch and let it reset to the right position.
On some cars dissabling the circuit stops speedo from working. However, removing ABS fuse on my clio didn't stop speedo from working, if I remember correctly from when I had my...
I'm not good with electrical faults but I read on here that the brake pedal switch is on the same circuit. Resetting the brake pedal switch solved my intermittent abs lamp, this after many attempts to check and clean rings, sensors etc and still having same problem. Worth checking before buying...
If you can, could you take a photo of the pad before you fit them please. Interested in how you get on, I'm sure others would like to know how non-brand "O/E" compares to Brembo / Pagid / ferodo "O/E" compares to "genuine Renault" from dealer... cheers!
It was toe in before as well, more so in fact. I wondered how the rear axle had been altered also :S, very odd that!
Your front settings look not too bad to me, I'd just prefer a wee bit of toe out.
I've noticed on this forum that there is a difference of opinion of how toe in and toe out are written. To me this graph says you have toe in. Toe OUT has a negative value. This is the only forum where I've seen it suggested that Toe OUT is positive. Not saying I have to be right, but I...
