Agree Rory..it's like every car, there are good and bad ones about.
I've seen a brand new VW have more faults and dealer f**k ups than all the Renaults I've owned have combined!
Re: Brake discs are f**ked
Doesn't sound like the fluid then....the car is too new.
I totally agree with you..things like this shouldn't happen to a car which is only a couple of years old. I don't think it's necessarily a Renault thing as some are okay....it's just that when they do get...
Looks good
AEM systems on Civics and APS ones on Subarus are a very similar design and are rated highly.
Only thing I would be concerned about it the filter getting very dirty quickly and water ingestion into the intake system since it's so low down.
TBH with a small cone and some Samco...
Re: Brake discs are f**ked
That definately isn't right...the pads obviously aren't contacting the discs properly as they should be clean on both sides.
Like I said, sounds like it could be a caliper problem but I would get it checked out as a fluid change may help if it hasn't been done for...
I brought my car becuase my WRX was burning a hole in my pocket and was getting far too old.
I kinda ended up buying the 172 by accident as it was on my shortlist from quite a few makes....turned up, had a look at and really liked it straight away so the money went down.
Also the low miles...

My rear discs are a bit rusty on the inside but the fronts that do all the work shouldn't be...the swept area covered by the pads should be completely clean/shiny.
Sounds like it could be a caliper/piston problem
According to my trip computer I got 42mpg on the motorwat at a constant 75-80mph...don't know how reliable it is though.
TBH I#m pretty impressed with the fuel consumption of my 172...for a performance car it doesn't seem that bad at all.
Seen quite a few Clios around with their backboxes hanging down touching the ground....must be a common problem!
Renault wanted over £300 for an exhaust even for my 172 then again that's just Renault for you..they wouldn't sell me a cup splitter on it's own....had to be brought as part of the...
Why does everyone panic about this like warranties and mileage.
My Oct 2002 172 has had 4/5 owners and it really doesn't worry me in the slightest..car is mint and runs great.
I'd have to agree...my experience of the way main dealers treat customers cars isn't good and they always try and makes sales on s**t you don't need.
I got quoted over £600 for the cambelt change on my 172....I will not be taking my car to the dealers for sure.
I would by a good cambelt kit...
