    Smoked by a 106 GTi...

My old 19 16v had a real lack of torque....not sure wether it's characterisic of the engine of wether it was the K&N ind kit though.

172 20 months ownership from new now 37,000

I'm around three months into my Clio 172 ownership (iceberg silver too).....going well so far, seems to be a good little car:D

    Smoked by a 106 GTi...

I had trouble with a Suzuki Swift yesterday in my 172 (laughter).....there are times when I wish I'd gone for that evo!

    piperx replacment filter

I didn't notice much difference in noise either but I didn't want the car too loud anyway.

    de cat for 172...

Thanks for the info mate....it does sound like a bit of a b**ch. I changed the downpipe on my old Subaru to a decatted one and that was an absolute s**g of a job....access to the nuts around the turbo was so limited which required some interesting rachet setups! I have access to some ramps...

    Brakes for 182

Braided hoses make a massive difference...fitted some on my old car and they sorted the spongy feel of the pedal.

    K-tec Exhaust!!!

Got a K-tec Stealth on my 172 and I'm very pleased with it....nice, tuned exhaust note and not too loud

    piperx replacment filter

Stick with a good panel filter in the OE airbox...ind kits may sound good but will probably loose you torque and for the money there are better mods to be done. I recently fitted a green panel inmy airbox and it seems to have freed up the throttle slightly and it doesn't make loads of noise...

Mice and the 172 do not mix well

    OMG....thats's a lot of damage!

Mice and the 172 do not mix well

OMG...the little s**t This has got me a bit worried now....my car is kept in a garage where I know there are mice around. Better send in my cat!

    Valver top end???

My old 16 16v would do 130 quite easily with just a K&N cone filter
  15. Neil G

    Traction control is good.....

My 172 has esp and still spins it's wheels now and again in the wet
  16. Neil G

    de cat for 172...

I'm going to put a sports cat on mine next month....how come it's such a pain to fit....it only looks like four bolts and the two O2 sensors which need to come off and be re-installed. Are the two bolts neat the manifold a pain in the ass to get to?

    Which Induction Kit for 182

Just put a decent panel in your OE airbox and save your money for brake/suspension upgrades.

Dimma Clio on Barryboys - is it a Willy?

Not my cup of tea but if your going to go for a kitted car Dimma ones are very, very good. I had a 205GTI with a Dimma kit on years ago and the fit/quality was second to none

all that talk about ctr v 172.

CTR blunted by crap steering....still a nice looking car though with a great engine

Are there any cars out there currently that REALLY rival the 182?

Have to agree Lee...My old WRX was ballistic speed wise but I rarely got a chance to use all the power and push the car to the limit as I'm just not that good a driver. I think other companies are going to have to come up with something very special to rival the Clio Trophy.....making a good...

    cone filter, strut brace

Have to agree with you but I understand there were a few people getting in the mix for their own entertainment. Forums are a funny thing...I've been on plenty and car ones seem to be particuarlaly overrun with egotistical people with complexs (hence having to quote power figures etc to be...

oil capacity question and haynes manual question

I've been looking for a manual for a 172 with no success either. I think Renault want us to take the cars into their dealerships for even the slightest bit of work.

Clio 16V - What to do?

I would do some research into how much it's going to cost to get sorted and MOTd. I can understand whay you want a second car for mountainbiking....I ride MTBs & BMXs and you can really f**k up seats and trim with a set of pedals with sharp pins fitted!

    phase 1 172 v 172 cup..

Prefer the look of the MK2 cars myself. I definately wouldn't say the Mk2 172 is 'floaty' at all.....in fact I think it's probably got the best steering of any car I've owned/driven.

    I have it at last!

Nice one These Clios are really good fun:D

    STOLEN!!! Williams + Scooby

Glad to hear they at least got one of the cars back. The scooby will probably be in bits by now.....market for parts (especially aftermarket stuff) is thriving.

    K TEC hmmm not happy

I agree to a certain extent but as Lee says...every car is slightly different. TBH I looked at it and solved the problem straight away....it was a very easy fix. I once brought a strut brace for my old car and realised it wouldn't sit properly on the turrets.....out came the trusty hacksaw and...

Cold air feeds - closed or open???

I did The last thing I want to see when I open my bonnet is some roachy cone filter sitting there covered in filth and making lots of noise while making the car less drivable. Enclosed kits may be good but are just way too expensive
