Renault quoted me over 300 for an OE exhaust which I though was ridiculous....also comes on one section which means you can't just change the BB if it gets f**ked.
Better off with something like a stealth and will be less that OE even brand new.
I second that advice....there's no easy way to get away with cheap insurance if your young and be 100% covered/safe apart from having your own poilcy.
It's a real pain but we all have to do it....I started off driving when I was 17 in a 1 litre Renault 5 which probably cost me a grand to...
Price isn't bad at all....Maxogens are just ludicrous price wise.
Sealed kit should behave in a similar manner to the airbox so long as you can get the intake in the right place.
Looks good but not my cup of tea.
Think they are okay to fit if you have a full-on, kitted up show car with all the trimings but not on everyday road cars.
I've never tried one on my 172 nor any induction kit for that matter....I fitted a K&N to my old 19 16v and it seemed to loose so much torque, especially in the summer when in traffic etc.
For those reasons I've chosen to leave the OE box in place and to install a panel filter.
Up to you...
K-tec do one complete with a sports cat but it's bloody expensive at around £600.
Also, with any upgrade like this youre only going to get the most out of it if the car is mapped after fitting.
Leathered up heavy as hell 172 returns pretty good mpg mate.....mine rarelt goes below 30mpg even when giving it some stick.
Mind you, I come from owning a car which probably did low 20s at the best of times so it's all relative.
Mmmmm..really.
I'm driving a 172 because is good value for money and I choose to leave it looking standard because I don't want it looking modified.
Like I said, it's a matter of preference
I have had problems with Renault main dealers before but that's just main dealers for you....pretty much there to rip you off no matter what Marque of car you drive.
My 172 is out of warranty now and due to teh depreciation of these cars I'll just be getting it serviced at my local garage...
Still don't see the point on an OE engine but I have seen this done before.
Make sure you keep the pipe away from any brake components though and away from the cat.
