Yep...I know about this problem as my last car ran a closed loop system as standard.
A lot of people fitted DVs and noticed flames/pops from all the overfuelling...car puts in the same fuel as it would normally but only problem is there isn't the same volume of air....can lead problems with...
Preffered toys and comfort so went for 172 full fat.
Sure the cup drives better but I don't do any track days anyway.
Like someone said earlier...easier to upgrade ff 172/182 with aftermarket suspension etc than fit interior/aircon etc to cup.
Just my opinion...don't drive hard enough to...
My girlfriend has just brought a P reg 1.2 Clio and it is bloody basic...no power steering, aircon, rev counter or temp gauge....still fun to drive though and goes remarkably well for such a small engine.
My thankyou:D
Anyone that knows anything about car tuning will tell you they are a waste of money....I suppose we all have to learn from our mistakes though.
Important to speak to someone in the know about which turbo to use otherwise you may end up with an incredibly laggy car which is a pain to drive.
Personally I'd save up for a decent 172/182
Dump valve is a waste of money and sounds awful.
Used to have one on my old car and it caused problems at idle and sounded embarrasing....it soon went.
Decent panel filter, exhaust and remap is the way to go
I've had my 2002 172 since October and it's been a good runner until today.
Went out to the garage this morning and noticed a sound coming from the car which sounds like the alarm on a refuse truck reversing.
Opened and locked the car etc with no success...just carries on making this noise...
Got about 36 out of mine at the weekend which I was reasonably pleased with.
Engine is still fairly tight with around 14k on it...hopefully the MPG will improve a bit with age
Have heard of this problem but have installed a sports cat on my 172 with both sensors plugged in and haven't seen the light come on yet....touch wood.
Matter of preference really
I don't do any track days or drive that hard so brought a full fat 172....really like the trim, xenons and toys...actually nailed together fairly well for a Renault too.
haven't had any trouble in my 172 yet....used to get lots of aggro in my WRX though and took great delight in watching them dissapear in the rear view mirror!
