Fred...
I just crusified my right rear tyre...went over 2 ripples in the tarmac near dartford and its f***ed the outer rim of the wheel arch...needed bending back in...was doing over 80 at the time
I am gonna jack it up and bend back the rims slightly..other than that...since i corrected...

Hi Peeps
This is my car before:

In the last RR (PE) day, i got 161 @ wheels, that was completely standard
So the induction is doing the work, not really the exhaust, although once the fuelling is increased, this may help to keep the air flow
Interesting result
Lets prey Nick can get a new fuelling map done for the mk2...
I got Nick Hill to fit the avos 35mm drop
It handles supremely now, really flat through the twisties...cant wait for wednesday
Only thing i noticed, now they have settled, it does rub a tiny amount at the back when chucking around over humps with 2 people in...but i have 17"s...fronts...
Its gonna be a while...they just got a massive order to supply several hundred carbon/kevlar seats for one of the current DTM teams and they have a list of saxo orders in and are looking to take on another person...
I need to get down there to talk properly....i havent forgotten

Jamie
I just spoke to pipercross today and they said they are developing a mk2 172 panel filter (the trapezoid shape they said), and would be ready in around a month.
Would be interested to know if you get it sooner
I put a back order in for one today

I just got a mate in Ripspeed to call piper cross....they will just make on up if we give them exact dimensions of the filter required...would be about 30 notes
If anyone has their paper filter out and can easily measure it and post the numbers i would be gratefull otherwise its a screwdriver...
With a 1.2, you aint gonna get massive performance boosts but if you want a nicer sound then thats the only thing a induction kit can truly guarantee

Would agree, used to have a piperx induction kit and on a cold winter day, the car sounded and felt awesome with a definite improvement, but if you got stuck in traffic on a warm day the performance of the car plumeted...felt sluggish and hesistant.
Got myself a carbon fibre induction cooler...
My last 4 sets of tyres (including my old saxo) were
Goodyear Eagle F1 (195x45x15)
Continental ContactSport (195x45x16)
Toyo Proxes T1-S (205x40x17)
Falken FK451 (205x40x17)
All i can say is that the F1, T1-S and 451s are excellent in the wet, the falkens for me have been the best dry...
A stealth shelf is basically a parcel shelf with holes...
Mine is a normal shelf, with an MDF backing for rigidity, holes cut out for speakers and mounted underneath, holes are meshed and the whole thing covered in accoustic carpet...looks from outside like nothing has been done to it.
MDF...
My setup is a standard head unit and changer, with Infinity reference speakers in doors, Pioneer 6x9s in stealth shelf all powered from an Alpine V12 amp (fe307)
Sounds quality (if i do say so myself)
Cost about £250 all in

From the saxo clan...
Check out www.pro-comp.co.uk
These are the chaps i know and i will get them to see what they can do...they were interested in doing clio stuff when i first showed them the 172
So give me a couple of weeks to see what can be done
Ta

So...if i get some time in the next week or 2 i will go down and see about the following as possible carbon bits:
Engine cover
Slam Panel
Front Grill
A Pillars
and anything else they think would be cool
Ta
J
If there is enough interest (typically need 5 orders) i have some friends who make carbon stuff (see this months revs or redline featuring carbon saxo for their work)
I used to have a saxo and got a carbon front grill, eyebrows, ram cooler (mega effective)...
I would like some carbon fibre...
