A pain is not the word. I was previously with Elephant, and their call centres are abroad. It is so hard to understand the operators, and to get your point through to them
This stands a chance of being a repost as it has been on ebay 7 days now, but I haven't seen it yet, so apologies if it has already been posted.

I think a few people have had this problem. The rear brakes stick and as you go to pull away after the car has been left for a bit, there is a loud clunking noise. Mine does it every now and then, but not to the extent where I have had to replace parts.
Yes, Renault's do depreciate quite a bit. I can't believe how little mine is worth, considering the price I bought it for just over a year ago. But cars do depreciate, and theres not a lot anyone can do about it. This is not the reason why I am not going to buy another Renault. It's the dealers...
You can turn RAID off. If you are doing work on the car with the engine running, and are worried about locking your keys in. Turn RAID off. Just hold the button in that locks the doors for a few seconds. You should hear a beep to indicate that it has been deactivated. Just do the same to...
Tell me about it. I see loads of Clios sports, but yet Ive never been spotted. Ive given up posting. I did see a blue 182 heading 2wards Shirley from jnc 4 of the M42 a week or 2 ago. That could have been you. Class it as your 1st spot :)
A couple of pictures of the 172 Cup spoiler, pretty sure the 182 Cup is the same. I haven't got 1 of the standard spoiler, but I believe it just curves down following the shape of the rear window, and has got a clear brake light.
Norris 309, I believe the 172 Cup doesn't use its rear brakes that much because the rear compensator isn't attached to the rear axle, and doesn't have a load valve. Therefore, the bias is never changed between the front and rear brakes. The compensator on the 172 cup isn't adjustable, and was...
The rear brakes don't do a lot, if anything on 172 Cups. A lot, including mine are failing MOT's due to 0% efficiency coming from the rear brakes. It is a big problem, and I am trying to work with Renault customer service to see what I can do to resolve the problem. I am thinking about putting...
maddernj, its all well and good having a letter explaining the car doesn't have this part, but is your car failing cos the part is missing, or cos the rear brakes don't do anything. Mine isn't failing due to the fact the part is missing, its failing cos the rear brakes have 0% efficiency.
**UPDATE**
Took the car in to a Renault dealer today, as requested by Renault UK. The conclusion was, that the reason my rear brakes are doing very little, if anything, is because the spring is missing from the rear compensator. Or as they also described it, the load valve (part number...
Get your silvervisions from www.powerbulbs.co.uk Your not a member, but would get discount if you were. I think they are still doing the white side lights that Guy was on about. You get them for free with the silvervisions.
Wheres the best place to get one from, and how much am I going to be looking at?
Anyone upgraded theres and want to get rid of the standard one? I have posted in the wanted section as well. Haven't got a clue how much they are though.
Cheers,
Matt
Just spoken to Renault UK, and they have said that I have got to take it in to a Renault Dealer to look at, and get them to look at whether it is a manufacuting issue, or whether it is down to wear and tear.
We all know it's not down to wear and tear, as it's a problem with most 172 cups by...
Sounds like yours are working then.
Ive done nearly 30K in mine, since I bought it with 15K on the clock, and haven't had to change my rears yet. I don't know if the previous owner did.
Well if all 172 cups are failing their MOT's, surely they shouldn't be on the road either. Surely it is a serious issue that the rear brakes aren't doing anything, and to the extent where they are failing what is basically a safety test.
Going to ring Renault UK and see what they say. Spoken to Fred, and he says that practically every 172 cup that he knows of has failed its MOT because of it. Surely that can not be right. An MOT has general rules for all cars, these rules are there to measure whether a car is safe to be on the...
I have had this happen quite a few times recently. Not for a week or two though. I was trying to figure out exactly when it happened, whether is was after rain, or temps below freezing etc. Since I planned to do that though it hasn't happened since.
It doesn't feel right thogh does it...
