Something I've done before on a number of engines, but that level of detail I usually leave for a high compression, eek every drop of power build, which this wasn't. The brief was some more power, and reliability as the primary targets. Pretty pleased with the results :)
thats the exact opposite of what I've found. The 172 manifold gives a hole in the torque around 3.5k, the 182 item smoothes that out
Sounds like a hell of a lot of work on a 1.4, but i wont say don't do it as I love this kind of thing
no, FPS are funny about selling to retailers. As far as I know they only deal with people who sell to trade, ie they supply motor factors. Might have changed??
mk2 cup racers were all ph1's, they had a compulsory upgrade program so they all had a facelift to be elligable to race.
You'll struggle to replicate their setup as they had a fair mix and match of parts from other cars.
I'd suggest you start with 2degrees on the front, leave the rear alone...
car they bought was absolutely mullered, the engine made no power before they started so they pulled it out and put another in, which i think (long time since i was told the story) was a clio v6 lump, so higher output to start with. Pretty much put the whole thing to ****. There was more to it...
Looks good Joe :)
got a set on the shelf that's waiting to go back on my own car, what are you interested in seeing? I'll take some pics, or better still you're only down the road, just come and have a look
the front row cars in tintops are mostly ex-BTCC/britcar. Serious metal.
If you lower your sights a bit and aim to be competative amongst everyone else you'll have more fun. I believe it cost aroung 8k to convert from Jay's old track car to the race car, and thats with already having a...
young? I'm 33, respect your elders. f**king whippersnapper
I've had not one single issue with reconditioned units that I've fitted so far, and thats quite a few. Even if there were anything wrong, they're warrantied, so it's win win. 100% of customers would rather spend £100 less per side so far
I've had issues with the new style top mounts. The new designe is flawed still IMO. Had to revert to using the older style stuff on one car to stop it knocking. f**king renault
They had an issue about 3 years ago when they stopped selling them for most fitments. They fixed the issue but forgot to remove the note about the issue. They've been fine for a long time.
If you don't want noisy, you want the Janspeed sport system, and leave the standard cat alone. I supply and fit a lot of these as they're very sensible systems which are not noisy
I'm a strong advocate of the piper 182 exhaust, but it is a bit noisier than it sounds like you want. Beautifully...
