A sorted e36 328 sport would be a better spend. I just don't see the point/fun in a more powerful Clio. I'd rather learn to drive the thing fast, the straights are no fun even in a powerful car. Great for pub talk, but it won't make the car more fun. Which is why I've spent close to bugger all...

As said, each to their own. The 172 (or any Clio's if we're honest, bar the Vee) aren't great lookers, but the 200 is the first I would call actually ugly.

Much as I love the clio's (clearly!), you can't compare fwd to rwd. Take a good example of either, and the rwd car will be more fun, more of a challenge, and take longer to master. You simply have less options with fwd. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Spending the money on the Clio is basically pissing it up the wall. If you want a new motor, r26 remapped is a good shout. Good looking motor, enough toys.

Spend the money on learning to drive correctly (road and track tuition) and do lots of track days. You'll enjoy that more than changing cars or sc the 182 (massively pointless on a car that struggles for traction with standard power at times) and it'll give you a skillset you can carry forward...

Drive them and decide for yourself. Neither are bad cars. IMO the Trophys better to drive, the 197 is the better everyday car. If you want a drivers hot hatch, the trophy can't be beaten. If you want a great everyday car, pay the extra for a golf gti. Pwns a 197 in every respect for me...
