Any air intake mod will only make serious noise when you're giving it some stick.

Some crossovers (active) have to be powered, but this only needs to be a 12v, can be split from the lighter. The only reason they need to be connected to the HU is so the power switches on/off with the HU, but it's not the end of the world.

My ktec stealth is excellent. It's been on just over 12months and it's perfect.

I've got a ktec stealth, sounds perfect. Not too loud but sounds good if you give it some welly. I'd imagine the ktec recessed sounds similar if you wanted to see the exhaust.
