Sids Inferno 182 cup progress thread

Just FYI, the filler cap rust will need the cap and filler neck removing, cleaning and treating inside and out, it comes from mud and crap sat on the filler neck, its quite a pain of a job to do!

Demisting screen: choice of T7 Heater or Heated Screen?

@Raceface_13 im just going to wire the live to the blower motor and run it to the battery via a switch as the rest of the car electrica are covered by a kill switch anyway. @Mash. did this in his cup as well so might have more info.

    The life of... SharkyUK's Trophy

@SharkyUK I would just try and start it and see how it goes, if it works, great, if it goes pop, whack a standard engine in and just cut your losses. Appreciate you are in deep but anything else is madness surely? Do you have any comeback at all on those who have let it get to this stage? IMO...

So I just bought a Clio 182 Cup..

Hacksaw a 'cross' into the top until you hit metal, then use a chisel and tap it off in sections, best way I found.

Pictures of your looped rack for EPAS. What fittings have you used?

If you are leaving the rack in the risidual fluid will be enough to keep it lubricated.

    Missing part from fuel rail

If the engine has been changed doesnt mean the fuel setup has, the later models dont have one and that is blanked off - does fuel leak out?

    Clio 182 - Removing AC & HPAS

Buy a cheap cupsetup (100ish usually), then get the alternator from RPD on exchange for 90ish I believe if you absolutely must have a new alternator, the brackets will be fine used! Adjuster you can get an uprated stainless one off ebay for £20.00. I would get a DCI rack for £30ish (make sure...

Demisting screen: choice of T7 Heater or Heated Screen?

Or, you could repurpose the rear screen heating elements and setup, thats on a timed relay I believe, so all setup.

Demisting screen: choice of T7 Heater or Heated Screen?

Was discussing this with @dann2707 yesterday. Think a battery supply with a relay for a switched ignition would be the best way, they would have quite a draw I would imagine!

Ten tonne motorsport -budget Clio build

ACW Motorsport Plastics offer a discount on polycarbs for CS members. I would highly recommend some 15s for cheap tyres and less weight.

    Mike Brewer strikes again

Mustang episode was pretty decent but this is not Wheeler Dealers anymore, money seems to be no object, equipment and budget is unrelateable to the home mechanic which is what kept me interested in the UK eps (Not the later ones). Shame! No interest in the other cars lined up!

What’s the PMS shifter REALLY like?

Ive had a number of setups over the years; Sloppy standard: Poor reach due to the height and driving position, throws ok but doesnt feel very positive in the shift. Rebushed standard: Same compromises as above, I didnt really think this was worth the effort! Scenic standard: Better height but...

    Ph1 172 Rust

I believe it comes from the holes for the side strips or the roof gutter strips and runs down.

    Ph1 172 Rust

Very common, dirt and crap builds up on the filler neck, holds moisture and eventually rusts through from inside. Drill the rivets out and the captive bolts for the filler cap (utter arse), treat it from both sides and paint, bolt the filler and cap assembly back on (dont need to use rivets). My...

I had spongy brakes after fitting a new rear line across the axle, even after multiple bleeds. Bled with the engine running and its sorted the issue, thanks to @GrahamS for the tip. Take note though, the eezibleed fills the resevoir to brimming and if you dont drain some out (syringe or...
