I was going to go for f1's but decided to try Kumho KU31's from clarkie. Very very impressed, tbh they could well be as good as the f1's from what ive found so far.

i loved my 172, but when i drove the valver it was so much better imo, just needed more power. now its got the 172 lump, its perfect. i find myself slowing down to make a gap to accelerate all over again:o

ive owned a valver and a ph1 172. my 172 was also known as a 'quick one' by those who toyed with it/went out in it i.e markcup. ROund here we have something called the bridge run, come off a roundabout, at 30mph then floor it, see what you can get. My 172 used to make 100mph every single time...

the code reader says sensor 1 or 2, so its the pre-cat sesnor shot.

oh and what you've posted is the MPI throttle body, you need the body from a 1.8 SPI.

mk1 ph? it only fits the mk1 ph1-2. you need the manifold ported to suit.

the manifold routes exactly the same way, but the cat joint is further towards the back of the car. so yes its easier.

which sainsburys might help, im sure there isnt just one in the uk lol ;)

Its a good idea IMO, doing quick test drive vids, you can see bits here and there and hear that it doesnt crunch into gears etc.

the pedal is self adjusting, however if you put you hand up follow the pedal to the top you'll feel the ratchet teeth. slightly below that there is a pivot point, now to release the ratchet you need to push the top in and pull the pivot point out. its possible just need some perservereance. tbh...

power to weight is about equal.

sounds like the cable had been replaced but they didnt slacken off the pedal so it would go so far down it'd stretch the cable...

sounds like the cable has stretched so far the pedal cant take up the slack, or the box is on its way out... where are you based, im sure a clued up member will be near you...

the 5 uses 239mm discs compared to the 259 of the 16v. calipers are entirely different.
