i raced one and pulled on it slightly in a straight line, my clios far from standard though, a standard clio will be slightly slower. remaped astra, bye bye! they are fast when mapped, dont handle very well though lol (ive driven one!)
as most of you know my mate used to own a standard engine wise one. my 172 used to pull on it with ease but thats running 190bhp/160lb/ft
i recon standard vs standard it would be very close.
handling wise, personally i wouldnt say one is better than the other, low speed tight corners the...
the only reason id do a conversion is to NOT declair it if i couldnt insure the real thing, wouldnt be doing a conversion then declairing it.
my mate pays £200 a year to insure his 1 litre corsa that some how wheelspins in 4th gear as it overtakes everything in its path lol
as title what other clutch will fit it so i can get an uprated one, i know it uses a similar series gearbox as the 197/megane 225, do these or uprated versions of these fit?
coiles are at a sensible height for fast road use lol just fitted the compbrake top mounts and its going for geometry this week will be on the road soon just waiting on a 2nd hand JC5 to rebuild with an LSD and my R888's!
lol what a mess, suppose i should change it! this is what you get with 20k of fast road, midnight runs with your mates!!
and a snek peak of the new coils ;)
i bought my 172 15 18, insured it 3rd party F&T with 0ncb for £2500. then a year later insured it at 19 with 1yrs ncb for £1500 fully comp!
now 3 years later when i pay £600 fully comp on the car would i wait that extra year if i could go back, WOULD I f**k it was worth every penny!!

ive only got experiance with mk2's but we have both a 1.6 16v 110bhp Dynamique and a 1.5 DCi 100 Dynamique.
the 1.6 16v is faster overall when your screaming thru the revs, but around town the 100 is quicker due to all that torque and it has much less torque than the newer dci 106's which now...
my car was really well looked after and never driven that quick by the first driver i assume due to brakes being factory fitted one and factory fitted tyres at 20k, when i got it it wasnt as quick as id have thought, i put 30k of hard miles on it and now it FLYYYSSS
crashed repair cars not my bag, more hastle than they are worth in my experiance, you get straight ones mega cheap these days anyway, id rather have a straight one with a snapped cambelt or something like that.
id suspect its leaked its fluid out one of the hoses, you may want to get it sorted soon before teh pump catches fire lol.
other possibility is the aux belt has gone and been lucky enough not to take the cambelt with it.
i bought the Dynamique interior from you back in the day for my old 1.2 16v, was mint condition hardly used i always remember that, was when people had just started putting 172 interiors into dynamiques and as usual me being me wanted to be different lol
id avoid them like the plague, yes some dealers are better than otheres but the pipework and boxes they use to start with are terrible.
my mate got one on his 172 at motorsport world and the exhaust its self was solid and well made but the tailpipe had gone brown with rust after about 5/6...
ive had 2 so far the first as a cheap runabout for winter when my 172 was having a few bits done, 155,000 miles, 2001 51 plate, no service history, hammered all winter from cold, handbrake turns in the snow and ended up in a ditch, sorted it, pilled another load of miles on it, and it was bullet...
i laugh at people in prius's as i fly past on the motorway at 70mpg in the dci 100 riding the torque wave lol
however you are being offered a 23k car for free lol sell the R and you can always buy another or a cheap hot hatch to have fun with
i havnt driven my 172 in months and drive the...
