^ yep, i like to put a jack under the engine to stop it moving when you take the old one off, makes it easyer to bolt it back in as you dont need to rock the engine to get the bolt to line up, maby thats just me tho (or my car!)
nailing round the tight curve on the stirling services roundabout at 80mph in the summer and watching the guy in the corsa sport do a 180 spin trying to keep up!
ive got 195/50/15 on standard dynamique wheels down 60mm and if you look at the rear arch liner they do catch, and they catch the rear damper on one side too, dont hear it though so its nothing majour.
i went from 16s to 15s and it handled much better. the 1.2s electric powersteering is too light for 16s or bigger in my opinion mine used to tramline all the time.
get 15s with 195/50/15 or even 195/45/15 will handle miles better and be like a go-kart compaired to 17s acceleration wont really...
neather did i at one point, got some decent tools, asked plenty questions on here and to mates who are mechanics or mechanically minded and helped do a couple now which i know i could do myself!
depends what sort of driving you do..
the 172 cup is ment to be better to drive on the limit and down a twisty backroad, but the 172 is still brilliant in these areas too!
if your belting down backroads all the time etc then id get a cup, if you do the odd backroad run and more motorway town...
engine conversions are only worth it if your doing every last bit of work yourself so you have no labour costs.
valver engine is a silly idea for a mk2 to be honest, why put a 10-15yr old engine in a car thats only a couple of years old? id go for a 1.6 16v clio engine or if you fancy being...
id get mk2 172 wheels for it, twin 3" exhaust and apex -60mm kit or coilovers.
id only lower it 60mm or more, anything less looks standard! mine is -60mm and i think it sits to high
do what im doing/done...
get a 1.2 16v for a year or 2 then a 172 (getting one next summer hopefully)
1.2 16v has more than enough power to have fun if you make it handle.
theres also the 1.4 16v and 1.6 16v and the DCi range too.
at the next dry meet ill be more than happy to take you a...
think he means what drivesft.
one of the roller bearings came off my shaft when i was driving and all the pins went into the gearbox.
cost me...

new driveshaft
new gearbox mount
new cat/downpipe
download Prime95 and run a Stress test overnight for atleast 12 hours to make sure it doesnt fail (ie. somethings causing it to be unstable, such as faulty ram, faulty psu or overclocking issues, but as you say it does it even at stock speeds so likely not that)
you can download it HERE
Re: first glimps
needs ph2 172 wheels to finish it off, along with a cup splitter, cup spoiler, sideskirts, front window sticker removed, fogs off, bump strips and door handles colourcoded, xenon front lights, then suspension lowered to 172 level or lower
then it will be mint!
i ran the 172 mount with standard bushes for a while and it was much better than the fucked mount but still moved a bit
if your willing to put up with the extra vibration then its deffo worth it for the bushes
