This is a little doodle showing the driver side driveshaft setup for anyone who happens to come across this thread looking for answers in the future (y)
After covering a massive 3819 miles since the last mot she now has another years ticket. I got a "well done" for the condition of it from Mr Mot Man and it had and it was given advisory for a chip in the screen. I need to replace the rear number plate bulb holders as one has lost a cover but...
I've seen a gps 150 and it was scary in the Twingo, didn't take long to get up there either which is surprising given its relatively low power. I'm really tempted to try one of them top speed events next year to see what I can do in a "safe" environment.
Could be worth a bore scope to see if there's any piston contact, does sound like a knackered dephaser but usually that rattles at idle and disengages with oil pressure at/above 1800ish rpm. That's not to say they all fail the same way.
Nah I think I'm just that weird chap who looks into things too much lol, head full of useless information. Definitely a good swap, if I was doing track days or competition id have one over my turbo converted car I think. Be much easier to use and beat on all day, maybe with a supercharger on...
In fairness the Twingos are an awesome base car for a bit of fun especially as they are popping up silly cheap. There's even quite a few 1.5kish RS133's popping up now. I keep toying with getting a cheap one of those, 197 swapping it (because I cant leave anything alone) and sticking it in a...
ooo nice looking forward to updates (y) The GT is a better base ecu wise for a turbo engine swap, the ecu has the ability to correctly read and control boost pressure. You could probably swap the whole loom, ecu and uch into an RS too if needed, or recode things to work. Anything will go with...
Yeah, well if it was obviously bent and damaged you would replace the beam or stub axles? setup is very similar to a 172/182, uses the same camber shims as them and fits the same between the stub and beam. Even a brand spanking beam would be out of alignment tbh and most have twisted over the...
Another slightly controversial update, like the tyres, may split opinions. Time will tell if it was a good choice on both 😂 This year a fair few automotive suppliers jumped on the Black Friday deals thing, this meant that I managed to get a set of front and rear Yellowstuff pads from EBC Direct...
@SteveC_1879 cheers for that. I've got a meg (r26) engine in the Twingo and wouldn't mind pushing it some more but am very much in favour of the parts bin over fully forging it, I really don't need to build a 450/500bhp capable block to take 320ish safely. I will look into it some more, thanks
Managed to get the car back on the ramps for re alignment and measuring of the rear axle changes since fitting a new front CV boot and shimming everything up on the beam. The rear end after the info from Nick at Pure Motorsport is very close to parallel now! the front has been dialled in with a...
Yes. don't take it as a common issue though. My car was a development mule for testing/mapping. Had 100+k of very hard miles on it, sure it had 18 owners too. I actually had a big fuel leak and ran it lean causing the issue.
If you came across the engine and gearbox cheap enough you could give it ago but I think the mk4 is possibly a completely different platform car, where as the earlier 2.0ltr f4r based engines are a direct bolt in affair.
I have seen a mk4 clio 1.6T swapped into a clio mk3 though so might be...
cold weather giving you a few extra ponies I bet :D pushing it to the limit. I'm sure others will chime in, I put mine together the way I did to keep it as road friendly as possible, I really didn't want an on/off switch for a clutch
