In my mk2 172 the spare wheel yellow insert with all the cheapo tools was what was making my rattle in the boot. Its probably better using some thick grease to lubricate with as WD40 may be to thin and make it worse. Another option for pin pointing the problem is to take out the rear back...

Happened to me twice, once was my old Renault 11, the bonnet flew up while doing 70mph down a hill. The other time was a golf, the heater matrix blew andmisted the windows. Both times i had to lean out of the window to see anything.

I want the airbags, but as the cup steering wheel doesnt have one, i will need to transplant mine into it. The rubber grip bits on my steering wheel have peeled and you cant replace just the rubber bits, needs a whole new steering wheel.
