iirc the valver uses a jb3 box and the williams a jb5?
in theory a 1.2 16v jb1 box should fit on but will it take the power/torque? theres a reason the 1.4/1.6 16v use a jb3 and not a jb1 after all!
182 box doesnt fit it, driveshafts are a different length iirc?
not worth while stripping the box just change it for a new one, you can pick them up for a couple of hundred on ebay/forum etc (i payed £112 for a 1.2 box with 8k on the clock from a scrappies!)
your looking for a 172 gearbox...
have you bedded them in yet? i usually do 2 30-5mph runs then 2 60-5mph runs then 3 80-5mph runs and usually the brakes are completely faded by then and they come back working a treat :)
when your doing it DONT come to a stop as the pads can bind to the disk or warp the disk
whats with all the negative in this thread, too many sheep on here following the crowd, need some more shepherds!!
back on topic, badges look good mate, how long now untill the cars delivered?
i pay £1200 fully comp with 1yrs ncb at 19 with admiral in my own name with mum and dad on policy.
when i was 18 i payed £2500 3rd party in my own name lol £220 a month!! was worth it though hehe
just make sure you get a decent one, make sure the cambelt and aux belt are done, rear disks are £200 so watch out for that, make sure exhaust isnt hanging off or about to fall off, and the rear dampers arnt leaking.
£150 for 2 eagle F1s too so make sure tyres are decent enough
watch out for rusty exhausts falling off, common problem, leaking rear dampers is another, notchy gearboxes are a sign of it being abused, its not the best gearchange in the world but it should go into gear easy, shouldnt jump out of gear or crunch when changing!
cambelt is due at 72k or 5...
id go for a dci if i was changing for the save in cash and much more torque, wouldnt bother with a 1.4, possibly worth looking at teh 1.6 if your minds set though as insurance isnt much different and the engines very similar, extra torque of it is worth it though.
looks good apart from wheels lights and sport badge, i miss my black one.
decent job you done of the spraying, well done.
id stick the standard wheels back on it, 195/45/15 tyres and slam it about 90mm like my old one! lol
rear dampers shot? mine were gone and i lost the back end at 25mph on a wet roundabout, lucky because i was going slow by the time it slid round i was only doing about 5-10mph so managed to catch it but had never felt a car lose control so easy, chcked both dampers and they had both emptyed...
my mk3 1.2 16v runabout is on 70k and goes like f**k compaired too any mk2 1.2 clio for some WEIRD reason!! much more torque around town, 30mph is fine in 5th so there not as bad as they sound. best test drive one though.
dci would be my choice tho!
nope its solid when reving and doesnt move much when rocking the engine back and forward (just the amount of movement you would expect from new mounts.
when coming into my street tonight i turned into the drive quite quickly and started braking when turning and heard a little clunk that...
