millage is irelevent its how its been driven and looked after, cars that have been driven hard are not a problem, its the ones that have been abused to watch out for. you can usually tell with a quick drive.
as for 172 vs 1.2, i get 40 miles LESS to a FULL tank of petrol that i got with my 1.2...
i picked mine up 10 months ago on 20k miles, now its on 43k 10 months later. all i use the car for is work which is 1 mile away and going out for blasts! LOTS of blasts :D:D
i was going to do mine, even had an engine and exhaust for it, didnt bother in the end as its just as much hastle to do it as it is to do a 2.0 16v conversion.

as said, standard mounts are soft for a reason, most of us learned the hard way, 2 silly little bushes destroyed my box, and cat on my 1.2 16v and lucky enough my 172 got away with just the top engine mounts needing replaced to to extra strain put on them.
