Hello everyone, new Clio fan here.

Welcome aboard :) Yep, these Frenchies do get under your skin. Mine had another £400 thrown at it yesterday for stuff that it didn't 'really' need - but I wanted it done. Even after all these years, I still really enjoy driving mine.

The Power PC Thread [f*ck off consoles]

That's plenty of time for build-up of dust, etc - even if the PC is used only sparingly. I used to take my PC into work typically twice a year and blast it out with an air compressor there. These days I bought a specific IT duster and just use it at home.

Out of interest - if your PC well ventilated, not next to a radiator and the graphics card itself free of dust and other debris?

The Power PC Thread [f*ck off consoles]

I think what's tended to shift in recent times though, is it's not always resolution that kicks VRAM in the nads. For the vast majority of times, the rule of 'more res = more VRAM required' is definitely true. But with more fidelity and fancy effects being applied, those can hog memory just a...

A good explanation of VRAM usage in current games for us mere knuckle draggers. Probably the first day of school in comparison, for the likes of Andy @SharkyUK  https://www.techspot.com/article/2670-vram-use-games/?fbclid=IwAR2OXmN4bXmBNFOCBJLy_v_dH1TJNWdqJZe5_iNEHaf-DJFpgp_OUynica4

The Power PC Thread [f*ck off consoles]

Finally got this setup on Monday - still no cable management done yet, so that will be a weekend job. Not a particularly great thing to get into the seat and having to slide my feet around dangling cables. Is it worth it? I'm glad to say - yes. It's clearly a league up from my previous Logitech...

    Golf games?

Does sound good. I really like golf games as an alternative distraction to the mainstream stuff on gaming platforms. More so when they put a lot of effort into the ball physics and the backdrops, making it appear much more realistic. I still have a quick round on PGA 2K21 every now and then...

    Golf games?

Yeah - the pricing is crazy. The PC version on cdkeys is £50 for the standard game and £69 for the deluxe. On Steam, £60 and £75 respectively. With Steam, you save over a quid by buying the standard game and the deluxe upgrade separately. :p I'd love to get it - but I'm not paying that. It...

    Modded BG182 - Bishop Auckland

Spotted on Sunday - 30th April. I was on the other side of the road in a Golf, or else I would have let on. ;)

    Another newbie.

Hi Mark, Welcome aboard! Interesting background with your BMWs - how does switching back to FWD motion feel after all these years?? With regards to the belts - there are two to factor-in. The cambelt has a service schedule of five years or circa 70k and the auxiliary one (which is commonly...

Modified 182 - road legal - who best to approach for insurance?

I'm a couple of years in for my modified 182 policy costing less than the annual VED charge. Strangely, when we moved here - various insurance companies were twitchy given that we had a Blackburn postcode, yet are miles away from there. Somehow (which defies all mental logic) they thought our...

Newbie to Clio Forum Any help appreciated

That said - the Renault dealership that I took mine too for its alternator replacement - took three attempts to get it right.

Newbie to Clio Forum Any help appreciated

Customer - car is broken Garage - HULK SMASH! Customer - but my car is still broken. And is now in pieces. Garage - meh. Don't scrap it - but as others, external support like citizens advice or trading standards should be involved here. The garage's actions have proven to be ridiculous.

Sourcing driver's side 182 Xenon headlight

Hopefully not too badly! Yeah, I get what you're saying. But on BG cars - they look naff - to me anyway. I thought that from Day 1 when I picked it up new - like the car had been sat in some desert sun somewhere and the light clusters had faded. When I had them changed, it made the front end...

Sourcing driver's side 182 Xenon headlight

Where did you get the passenger side one from, please? That has some internal pitting an a small crack in the plastic within the unit itself. It irritates me how Renault switched from the dark grey surround to that crappy faded-plastic grey surround on the later units. The later units look crap...

What have you done to your car today ???

The extremely technical and involved process of swapping out the nearside rear indicator bulb. I was pleasantly surprised that I knew exactly where my pack of spare Silvatec bulbs were, also.

    AirPod Pro issues

A fair comment - it is a possibility? This the status of mine... Mine are well out of warranty period now and without wanting to sound like an irritating fanboi - they are absolutely brilliant pieces of kit. I use them every time I'm in the office to drown out other people with the noise...

    Longer 5th for a 172 box

@NorthloopCup fitted the Ph.1 final drive to my gearbox when it had its rebuild. For me personally, I think it was worth the swap over and glad that I did it.

    Talk me out of it....

The fact you've posted that, tells you something. ;) Slower. Older. Bummed harder for the VED. Yet you're still considering it. Some things don't always make sense to want them.

    Boot not opening

I've replaced the boot solenoid twice on mine - it's pretty easy to do. When you say you replaced it, did you line it up correctly as well? Any difference in locking noise when you press the button on the key fob?

The USB stick in Media Nav has stopped loading

I'll guess that the file type on the USB stick itself isn't accepted by the header unit. NTFS would be a good standard to pick, but I'll guarantee that a lot of devices will not support it. I'd personally try to obtain a USB that was less that 8GB or less in size and USB2.0 only - before...

    Renault Clio 0.9 TCe Dynamique

I remember back in the days of me looking into my first car - which was a Punto Sporting 1.6 8v. The quotes I got were pretty expensive - so I looked into the non-turbo 1.7 diesel version. The insurance company actually wanted a higher premium because the engine was 'larger capacity'. I argued...

    Company of Heroes 3

TLDR - if you liked either CoH1 or CoH2 - definitely buy this. So, just over a month into it and I have completed the main Italian dynamic campaign and have started on the storyline/linear North Africa campaign. I'd argue that I'm actually preferring the North African campaign at the minute -...

Oil light, immobiliser and relays going mad

That's exactly how mine behaved, a good 10+ years ago. It drove fine one Saturday morning - with no previous issues. Then about an hour later, I made another short journey and this happened once I tried to restart it. Luckily, Halfords was just over a mile away and they had a matching battery...

Recaro trendline lowered frames and runners

That's the issue. Paying a grand for a pair of seats that are brand new is one thing. Paying that for potentially 18-years worth or so of arses, farts, drinks and other crap to be on them, is something entirely different. I'd like them. But not that much.

Recaro trendline lowered frames and runners

Would love some Recaros for mine - but I suspect they are on par with recent Clio V6 prices these days....
