No, not neccessarily. More likely you will get away with a bolt in for an MSA regulated race.
The Cup would be good in the Hot Hatch Championship. Here are the regs. You will need the MSA handbook to look at specifics though...
I personally wouldn't modify a 5 door either, it just doesn't suit it.
If you can't bare to save up for your next car, perhaps colour code the black bits and lower it slightly. Some 172 wheels would be a subtle upgrade too.
TBH i so rarely see other Clio Sports and i live in London. The only one i've seen in the last week was driven by a 40 something woman... So therefore i'd say they are quite exclusive!
The Saxo's image is not helped by the lookalike VTR and Westcoasts IMO, whereas there is no 'fake' Clio Sport...
Track & Race car magazine call the Clio 197 the best trackday car, beating Mini GP, Megane 225 etc.
Of more serious machinery, including the new Caterham and other track specials the 197 Cup beat them all! It got the second best lap time.
