Last night i got 43mpg on an hour long journey, i was going pretty slowly in town and on the motorway. Over a tankful i will normally get about 38mpg as i can't resist the occasional mad moment.
If you are buying a dealer car then i can't see it being an import, they don't like having them.
Basically if it has between 36k-48k miles then ask if has had the auxillary belt done as if not it could cause mayhem.
Otherwise, as people have said, the cambelt is important over 48k.
I'd watch...
It was thought that you needed to remove the subframe but there is actually a tool to help fit the manifold without doing this which reduces labour time, and therefore the cost. Still won't be cheap to fit...
I would bite someones hand off for a manifold for £100 though. If you don't fit it...
Hi Guys,
Am not sure how low i am going to set the Clio so was hoping for some side on shots of your 172/182s on 16" wheels.
Please don't make this a homage to your Clio, just the one shot will do ;)
Cheers.
Has Autocar published peformance details?
On paper the 197 has a massive 3bhp per ton advantage over a PH2 172. Obviously having extra power will help top end but my 172 is at least faster than the two 197s i have driven on the same stretch of road.
They are not easy to get a perfect fit, in fact i've had three people try fitting it and there is still the slightest of blowing. Can't say i've rolling roaded the car to see if there is a performance difference.
I'm not sure it's worth getting one if you can get a custom one made up in Oz...
Welcome mate.
I went from Clio to Mini Cooper and back to Clio...
I did really like the Mini, it is a better all round car, but the lack of performance and terrible ride meant i always had an itch i couldn't get rid of!
Whatever people say on here we are still the minority of potential owners. Sales figures are the only truth that matter at the end of the day. I would certainly be interested how many 197s Renault sell in comparison to the 172/182.
Let's just hope Jeremy puts in a good word from us!
Not being funny but it's a splitter, you'll probably break it anyway.
A HANS device uses about half the carbon fibre than the splitter and looks amazing. The problem is that it costs over £500. Doesn't take a genuis to work out that k-tec can't use 100% carbon when people want cheap stuff...
Depends what you like out of a car.
The Clio has the nicer interior, and is pretty pratical now it's grown so much. I've tried to like the Megane, and it is a good car, but after driving it i was left pretty flat with the handling. The 197 has a special chassis for what is a £15k hatch back.
I don't think there is anything wrong with modifying your car, but i agree with the rest in that most of the modifcations don't really suit the car.
I really hate those LEDs, i can't understand how anyone can think they look good.
True...you can get one for about £10k now, even less. The problem is that they are quite different from standard, so eligibilty is an issue. I guess whoever is selling the car would know what series's it can go in though.
Personally i wouldn't want to have a car which has missed the cambelt service unless the last service was late too. Was the auxillary belt done at 36k?
Bear in mind that it is coming up for the next minor service (60k). I think there are plenty to around to choose a better example.
