I've got the digital dash, didn't need to programme anything for the cruise control or speed limiter to physically work but nothing would display on the dash. Needed the dash reprogrammed for that, but the cruise control will still work without reprogramming
^that. It's easy enough to fit if the wiring loom is there already. Will work without ECU programming too, just won't display on the dash.
Iirc, if the car doesn't have the loom, chances are the ECU won't have the cruise control programme built into it.
I haven't had a chance to try it on my mates or vice versa, but I tried it on my brothers Seat Leon last night and it was just as slow using my phone, and didn't even work with his. Starting to think its faulty or something
That's what I thought too, but all that scrub radius stuff says otherwise. I'm thinking that probably only matters on track and stuff, or if you're properly hammering the car!
Your car looks brilliant! It's pretty much exactly how I'd want my wheels to sit. Do you know the offset of the 172...
Cheers mate, that's what I was hoping. Everything I read online made it sound like there would be a night and day difference, which I was finding quite hard to believe for just road use
Been reading up on steering geometry and how spacers affect the scrub radius and all that. I want to fit spacers to my car, front and rear, with probably somewhere between 15-25mm on the front.
So my question is, would spacers of that size affect the handling all that much for normal road...
Wasn't really sure where to post this, but I got a wifi ELM327 adapter off eBay today. Tried it out with various apps off the App Store and they either didn't work at all, or once they did work, the refresh rate from the live data was about once every second or more.
Compare this to a similar...
^beginning to agree with that.
Was looking forward to this, but it's a long way to go for hardly anyone to turn up. However I do think that everyone is probably thinking along these lines, and if everyone just committed it'd be a good turnout. Probably not gonna happen though
Dci's have 58mm spacing iirc. I should really know this, I've replaced my dampers :o lol
Adjustable dampers wouldn't let you go any lower. It's the springs that dictate the height the car sits at. Dampers are just there to 'dampen' the effects of bumps on the road, stop the car bouncing around etc.
That's all I've heard too for the actual meet location. Not sure how big the car park is though. Doesn't look overly big on google maps considering there should be a few different forums turning up to this.
However as Alan said, there's a s**t ton of snow forecast for Thursday in Aviemore and a...
Been a while since I updated this, so here goes. Fairly big update!
Finally fitted new side lights a couple of weeks back, since my cheap eBay ones were slowly dying. New ones are awesome, they're so bright they light up the trees across the road from my house :o
Pic of the old ones (left) and...
Yeah they're too big imo. Not sure about spacers, I'm looking into them as well just now. Have a search around the forum, there'll be plenty of photos of cars you can use to get an idea. The search button is your friend!
I probably wouldn't go to 17's if you want comfort. I noticed the shift from 15" to 16". Noticeably bumpier but it was by no means uncomfortable. Wouldn't like to try 17's tbh, tyre profile would be too low for my liking. I personally think they look too big as well
Count me in + 1. Fb event says meet at about 11am. Might be wrong, but isn't Aviemore like a 2 hour drive from the central Scotland area? Longer from Glasgow/Edinburgh
Still tempted to come to this. Would be good to meet folk, get to know a few members etc. Quite fancy meeting up for a drive up too, but I have a birthday party the night before and will probably be hungover and end up not being fucked going! Especially for an 11am start...
5mm would probably do. When I fitted 172 alloys and a set of 205's the inside of the rear nearside tyre rubbed on a part of the rear beam. Was a bit that sort of stuck out. Could probably have filed/ground it down tbh, reckon it was just the rust on it that was causing it to rub.
