Only just realised now that it tells you the torque for those under the driveshaft section! Feel like a right idiot now haha. Can they fail from the hub nut being undertightened too then?
It was a front one, should've mentioned that. I think I probably over tightened the hub nut, I torqued it to 175nm as my Haynes manual said but I knew the torque wrench I had used was slightly off and needed calibrated when compared to a smaller, properly calibrated one I had, so I ended up...
As above, replaced a wheel bearing about 2 months back, probably covered around 3000 miles and it's failed again. Removed and replaced the hub myself but got a garage to press the bearings out/in.
Is it possible to press the bearing in wrong or is it probably just a bad/faulty bearing?
Yeah I'm pretty sure they're all the same. I've got a spare linkage as well actually, it's been lying around ever since I broke my old Clio for spares a while back.
The wipers and linkage is easy enough to remove, just need a puller to get the wiper arms off. Then it's just a case of removing...
Does sound like your wiper motor is about to pack in to me. Noticed your location is Glasgow, I have a spare wiper motor lying around and work in Glasgow so if it turns out you need a new one give us a shout :)
Edit: linkage is probably fine, I'd reckon if the linkage was away you'd hear the...
Had a search but couldn't really find a definitive answer to my problem.
I had my gearbox oil changed a couple of months back when it was getting serviced, and recently the gearbox has started making a whining noise at about 60-80mph, but only when accelerating. It does it in 4th and 5th and...
Maybe lol...*flameproof suit on*
To be fair, it wasn't being used to hold the weight of the car or anything, but I suppose it does look that way from how it's all ended up!
I've got axle stands too but I was trying to check for a knocking that only happened when there was a load on the front end so had to use the ramps.
Luckily I managed to jack the car up and pull the ramps away. Bumper just clipped back in place, gutted about the marks it's left on my brand new...
Wood slipped from between the wheels and ramps and the car fell onto the bumper.
Just about ripped the whole bumper off! Needless to say, I think I'll be investing in a set of lower ramps...
Try disconnecting the amp and see if you still get problems with the clocks resetting, easiest way imo! Sounds to me like the amp + starter motor are pulling all the power from the battery on startup
The 130 and 160 engine's were fine it was just the 150's that ate cams. I knew someone with one and it needed a whole new head setup. Cams, followers, valves the lot. Car never ran the same again after that and he ended up getting rid of it. Not good! I'm sure they're the only ones with that...
I wish I had the same freedom to tune my car and not worry about breaking anything but it's my daily for work atm, and my box is already making a whine under acceleration at about 70mph which makes me think it'll need replacing soon!
If the boxes can handle 300nm though I might get it replaced...
Not sure about powertune but after looking I think they may be closed!
For remapping, try SOS Motorsport in Falkirk. Don't have any personal experience with them myself but I've known a few others to go there and never had any complaints. Phoned them once and I believe they quoted me somewhere...
