Yea the flared end was nothing like the fitting in the adaptor pipe but the standard pipe just needed a little bending and was near perfect! I'm going to try old ECU and injectors in a bit to see if it's something like an earth or sensor with paint in :p lol!

Have you checked the wires on the lambda sensor? If its been shorting out the car won't start, and with it sitting on the exhaust there is a good chance two cables have melted and touching. I'd look at that first
