Aw, man - that would be superb!
I for one would like to see how a 959 would compare to say a 997 Turbo. How would 20+ years of progress actually translate on the track?
I guess the insurance and s**t-scared owners would probably mean that the idea would never get off the ground. But we can...
They look good in this pic, paul. The colour of the seat almost matches the carpet!
We're they a straight swap, or did you have to mess about the rails and mounting and stuff?
D.
Not all doom and gloom then? Good to hear that yours had that many owners and its A-ok. Hopefully the OP's Cup that he's looking at will be just as good. :)
D.
Just spoke to spares at Renault and they said that the inlet manifold gasket is part number 7700114203 and cost £4.91+VAT.
He mentioned that there were quite a few different gaskets on the system, so I just wanted to check this is the correct one?
Cheers,
D.
It sounds stupid, but I've noticed non-cupped 182s with anthracites put on - pretty much straight away. They do look noticably higher. Of course, there is nothing to stop the owner dropping it a bit to disguise that fact. ;)
When I ordered my 182, it was a definite that I would pick the cup...
Cheers for the link m8 - not far from me either!
Lol Chris - I bet that was an 'oh f**k - what have I done?' moment? ;)
I'll get a new gasket as well. I'm going to swap them out next Saturday so I've got the rest of the week to get the stuff.
D.
Fairplay m8 - nothing wrong with having a drive of something that catches your eye!
Some slight knocking on acceleration seems a very common problem with the engine mounts. Also, a lot of 1*2's have had knocking from the steering when on full lock. Mine did that in a few months of having it...
Doesn't sound too good on the face of it. The 6 previous owners would bother me in all honesty - did some of them (or all of them?) know something about the car that's a disaster waiting to happen?
It could be a great car - I shouldn't be so dismissive of it. But the above comments (coupled...
Nice one! I'll risk it without then.
Any recommended makes of plugs in particular? If I'm going to the hassle of looking at them first, I'll probably swap them out regardless. :)
D.
^^^ - That's what I was thinking really. Would it be a good idea to clean or prep the old gasket before I put it back on?
Don't get me worried Gaz! lol!
D.
Bugger. :(
Cheers Gaz. Any thoughts on the gasket when I take the inlet off? Am I ok just to retain the old gasket or should I get a new one first?
Paranoia - I know! ;)
D.
Chaps, before I go any further to check the state of the spark plugs, am I right in saying that the top of the inlet assembly has to come off to get to them?
I stopped at that point as I saw a gasket at the front (where the 10mm hex bolts are) and didn't want to risk damaging that.
I'm...
Good call!
Great card - just be prepared for it to heat the room that its in. The stock cooler is turd - I'd definitely recommend getting a better 3rd party one...
D.
Nice piece of kit Barron!
Always feels good having a new PC setup. You spend ages just throwing all sorts at it to stress it to the max! :)
The 4870 is a great card. Well chuffed with mine, so you'll be even more chuffed having got two of the buggers in there.
edit - oh, and the G15 is a...
Haven't checked the plugs actually Tobs - I'll probably take a butchers tomorrow. I remember messing about years ago with my dad's Fiesta and using the strobe light to find the TDC on timing. I guess things have moved on a fair bit these days!
Could be. It certainly doesn't feel sluggish...
I've only noticed it in the last week really, having been off work. If I put the car under a bit of strain, say third gear at a relatively slow speed, the engine pinks quite badly. It's never done this before. It sounds like the familiar Clio V6 pink noise, but actually a little harsher, imo...
