Had a few on the home number these past few weeks, actually. In amongst the foreigners who do actually want to speak. They are the ones annoying me more - usually at the weekend too.
No, I don't want to transfer my f**king credit card balance.
No, I don't want a Talk-Talk, Talk-Shite...
They did try making Shadowrun as a DX10-only title. Not that it was much cop and there was a DX9 workaround around anyway.
You do need admin rights for XP to install stuff - that's right. But apart from you own little kiddies accessing the PC, who in their right mind uses and creates a mere...
Both XP and Vista are very good O/S's imo. Certainly Vista32 seems a lot more happy from a gaming point of view than Vista64 does - if you dabble in SLi, that is. But then again, the issues of Windows XP64 were never really given the chance to be sorted out (and probably because it was simply...
I'd be utterly amazed (and impressed) if the chipped Vee could manage that. Porsche's 997 Turbo has the benefit of larger engine capacity with two turbos bolted on and is only a mere 30bhp on top of the figure you're quoting.
Also, its official 0-60 is 3.8secs. Drop the 4x4 benefit of the 997...
Sophos is great in the work (aka - paid for) environment. For free home use, AVG-Free is pretty good. Just be sure to read carefully what tick boxes you have on when you install it. Seems overtly paranoid with its scans and slows the PC down a fair bit...
Lol - you're right. It is a bit overkill for simple netting! We've had a few of these at work recently...

Not the cheapest, nor the best out there. But they are a very good base unit for straight forward jobs.

Pretty much all versions of Vista are fine with 4GB. In fact, most versions (especially the 64-bit ones) support way beyond 4GB...

Windows XP32 had the issue with the 4GB limit as did the cut-down...
Try telling that to mine when I got to the BIOS screen. Just making a few changes and 'blip' - straight shutdown. 'OMG' moment when I realised that I hadn't reconnected the GPU fan back to power supply pin-out. Feckin red-hot it was too.
Close call with that one.

Ads, what graphics card have you got? I haven't read all this thread, so apologies if its been said already. If the fan on the gfx card is hardly moving (or dead?), it will trigger a thermal shutdown similar to the one on the CPUs.
Doesn't normally do it as quick as what you mention though...
I bet you'll notice a better uptake on the acceleration as well. :) When I went from 14's on the Punto GT up to 17's - it felt like the 0-60 time had doubled. :(

Good call. Feck ugly from the front but hearing it in the GT racing at Oulton last year, it had a fantastic noise to it. Proper deep and loud. Almost looked a little daft that something so relatively small could produce such a noise. :)

Why have we kept things like this? I've got a PS1 and wouldn't really be bothered if it never switched back on. But I'd be gutted if the Atari 2600 didn't work again - even though I haven't switched it on in years.
Do we hang on to kit like this because it was the first real generation of...
You should be happy with it and not worry so much about its value. :)
The one for sale looks like a proper bargain for its spec. Love the side view of it.

Are you running a legit installation of Windows?
Have you installed any Windows Updates recently? The first update is usually a combo of the latest Windows installation utility and the Genuine Advantage tool (aka Bill's Spyware).
