the internet reckons lot of things, i'd say 90% of it is crap!!
traction light is not an mot fail. had one go through early december, i even said it was on but told it wasn't a fail.

mate told me his was faulty as he could hear it rattle when he shook it...it didn't rattle when i shook it and held the washer still, the dopey git:wink:
black plug on the back lights. on the top edge of it there is a flap, pull this up and then when you look in at the terminals you can push them in a touch, this tightens them up when they are plugged back in.
do that, quick spray of contact cleaner and they'll be fine.
probably, chances are one or more of the pulleys have slipped and taken out a load of valves. seen it quite a few times where something goes pear shaped within couple of thousand miles of having belts done.
