108671 is the correct dephaser for the sport, got two old ones in my scrap here. Looking more like crank has been locked in the wrong place.

so you gave mate a f4r dephaser but it had a standard k4m pulley on so fitted the dephaser but you've just said 'it has a laguna dephaser' pic of head to see if it's a dephaser head or standard one. if it was noisy straight away and it's an f4r head my money is on your mate missing the crank...

12/63 5.25:1. 4th gear flat out was nudging 100mph.

as you've said first port of call is the white plug in the fuse box.

yeah, drops out easy. jubilee clip on the tensioner, drop the top bolt on the alternator and pull it forward and that slackens the belt more.

No need to take the alternator off, makes more work doing it that way.
