Managed to get under be car yesterday. Removed the A brace and the connectors all seems fine. No wire issues I could see and it's not like there's any movement there. Nothing obvious around the ABS components in the engine bay either. Will check the ABS rings tonight. How hard are they to change...
Will jump under at the weekend and take some snaps. I've managed to lock the wheels, get brake fade from track use, and tried extremely hard.... But never have I been able to engage the ABS. Warning light on or off.
Got a strange ABS fault. Car is a phase 2 172, standard brakes and recent ATE fluid. Never been able to engage ABS, also the ABS light intermittently comes on, and when it does, the braking power is significantly less. Only recently noticed this connection. Presumed I'd just cooked the fluid at...
Definitely wouldn't run wheels without spigot rings. Wheel bolts aren't designed to withstand shear forces such as the weight of the car multiplied by heavy cornering forces. The spigot ring helps the wheel locate onto the raised lip of the hub (which in turn takes any shearing forces, and the...
How are you finding this manifold now? I read in your other thread you needed an o2 sensor, do you think that affected the power output? Did you get a dyno run before and after? Or just the dyno after Vs the factory power figures? A friend of mine is seriously considering one of these. For the...
Car is a Clio 172, 83,000 miles.
I’ll be having my leaking front shocks replaced. Currently on KYB shocks and Apex springs. Since stripping the rear out the springs work a LOT better, and it handles a lot more predictably.
I’ll be changing to cup shocks. I have a few questions:
Is it worth...
@dann2707 Thanks mate, I'm trying not to get too caught up in modifying for the sake of modifying. Although I'm sat here with smoked repeaters and debadging etc). My Impreza STI and BMW 335d both were too precious to thrash. This isnt. It's going in for new handbrake cables and brake fluid this...
Not much of an update but I'm bored on my lunch and thought I'd put something up.
After thinking the grills had faded and tried a few methods to restore their blackness, I realised it was actually painted a graphite grey colour. So, as per my obsession, out came the satin black.
Yes...
Its a difficult question because I'm presuming looks is what you're after?
The Speedlines are quite a heavy wheel, albeit a very strong one. The Rota's are a great looking wheel but presumable you're looking at the 15x7 et20 fitment, which will take some arch rolling and camber to get on the...
Right then, I currently have Apex springs & KYB shocks fitted to my 172. They were on it when I bought it, and I don’t particularly like them. They’re not very confidence inspiring; if you go over a bump/uneven ground mid corner once the suspension is loaded up then the car doesn’t behave very...
That's a daft way of looking at it isn't it? Tuition would take ages so don't bother?
And with regards to cheap coilovers being better than standard, surely new standard equipment would be better
I actually came on here to post "Get tuition/instruction".
I'm going to sound like a tosser here, but here goes: You need to decide what you actually want. Whether you want to 'own a track car' with track modifications, cool wheels, cool seats, big brakes, rollcage etc, which is fine, OR...
Thanks, thats my plan I reckon. Or something similar. Also, I wont be trying for lap records when I'm on track so a decent road setup should be ok on track. I hope...
See thats the thing, the Apex springs just seem to 'not work' as suspension for dealing with bumps. Any instance where you've loaded up the suspension (i.e. longer corners) and then either cross some undulations/broken road surface/small pothole, the car feels very unstable. Enough to make you...
Already got mine fitted. Just turned a sleeve and threaded it. Fits like a dream now. Regarding the price, he's probably out of stock, I've seen a few sellers do that.
