Cant go wrong with a GTi, although dont be fooled into thinking theres a saving to be made from the fact its a 1600cc.
My VTS i had was getting 32/33mpg all day long, one of the best cars ive ever owned!
Its the way of the world mate, i had a C2GT for a year and it caused me no end of grief. Bought a Civic After that and somehow i have managed to end up with a 172, i really cant understand how i managed it:o
Oh i know ever since i got my first piece of French crap i just wanted a faster piece of french crap lol.
It was never the cost of the car it was the fukcing insurance that made me not want to do it.
Im tore between getting a Civic Ek9, Mk1 Vee or perhaps a Trophy next year.
Dont think you will wait long if these are anything to go by>>>

Alot of power for the front wheels i think, i know you said you wanna be unique and all that but its still a bit of a gamble to get everything to the right consistency i.e brakes, chassis (would it hold?) driveshafts etc etc.
Are you doing the work yourself?
It could be the Coil Pack, HT leads or as said Spark Plugs.
Pull the leads off one by one and if the revs start to drop you should be able to eliminate which spark/Ht lead may be faulty.
I had this problem a couple of weeks ago, replaced the 4 spark plugs at a cost of £20 and got a new coil...
Sarcasm?
I doubt it mate unless theres a nun at the wheel.
It may well only be a 1600cc 8v but they only weigh 930kg's remember and make 100bhp.
0-60 comes up in 8.9, i think your being a tad optimistic here friend!:rasp:
