    Project Ph-OneSevenTwo

Ok, so I haven't been into here for quite some time, as the ph1 has taken up more money in maintenance than one would expect... little bits and bobs have been done, but it's mainly been tidying, no ground breaking stuff... What's been done since I last posted (going from oldest up to most...

    The Bora.

Wheels, as you say, aren't ground breaking, but I think they suit the car pretty well and that sounds like a good enough price. I was also missing the Bora project tbh. Keep up the good work J-man If you were local I'd give you a hand with refurbing them.

    New round these parts.....

Welcome to the site mate, there's a lot more available than just a buyers guide. The amount of money you can save on purchasing parts etc and the amount of people willing to help is unreal, hopefully everyone will help you find what you're looking for. I'll just have a quick search for the...

    Multi tasking, killed my battery?

Only GPS ones do mate iirc.

Wheel refurb query (maybe fred will know)

I'll give it a go next time. Want some interesting wheels for the ph1. (I really want topgeartom's deep dish) :(

Wheel refurb query (maybe fred will know)

I know, but then how do you avoid it looking orange peely? Or does that just dry away???? I just seem to get a much smoother finish when I go a bit thicker on the lacquer.

Wheel refurb query (maybe fred will know)

That's where my trouble lies tbh, I can achieve a really nice finish, but always end up with a darker colour that I hope for. Getting the glossy finish is about doing brilliant prep and getting the lacquer right. Unfortunately I seem to hit a catch 22: Thin layer of lacquer, colour looks...

    Multi tasking, killed my battery?

GPS related app's do kill the battery if left running, quite well known. Everything else, does not.

Wheel refurb query (maybe fred will know)

No troubles, any problems/questions, just ask. I'm no pro, but I've DIY'd a few sets, I just can't seem to stop the lacquer from making it look darker than it is, but that's another story.

    low ph1 pikey build!

Are you running ph2 door cards stu? How much for the peu's??

Wheel refurb query (maybe fred will know)

Yeah sounds alright, although you may want a quick pass of 800 inbetween, I'd only use the 600 on the roughest bits, so 600 on the rough bits, all over with 800 (to blend the rough bits in) then 1200.

    It's unlike me...

PM Ye. (Sizeable one, sorry) Look forward to seeing this in the flesh Tom.

    It's unlike me...

Very nice Tom, not sure if the mirrors are a bit too much, but I like it anyways. It's a lairy track scheme, never a bad thing. Are you this painter?? If so, want to earn some money and help a "brother" out?

    Run off the road.

They can't have been brand new Daniel-san, they only made 9k!!!! Most of my miles are London commute, so there's no way I've been killiing it! Tyres were dead cheap until something came up (like the four Toyo's I picked up tonight). As for the "I should have slowed down" suggestion I did try, I...

Wheel refurb query (maybe fred will know)

All depends how bad the damage is mate? Kerbed to f**k? Or perfect? Basically, you don't need to use anything below 800 if there is no damage, the grade of paper you start at just depends how bad the damage is, you could sand down 90% of the wheel just with 800, but one fucked bit, start at 240...

    Run off the road.

Still got any of those f1's? lol!!! Shame to see that mate, I've now got two options, try to get one, without tyre, posted to NathJ in Wales who'll spray me one up to match, or paint my spare black myself, then a mobile guy will come around, spray the lip on and lacquer the b*****d. I've just...

240? What have you done them? If they're not that mullered I'd go 600-800-1200.

    Clean shed

Good work as ever, I quite like the sticker, very apt. :)

Wheel refurb query (maybe fred will know)

No need to get it back to silver in the slightest mate, if you're that worried about them coming out dark, go for a white primer, personally I'd just key them back, remove any imperfections and go with grey primer, which will soon hide any trace of the darker colour, I'd then just spray as normal.

    Run off the road.

Barum's are temp, picking up four toyo's tonight, which is why I'm so gutted as I wanted all four fitted :( Tracking needed to be done anyways tbf (after all the balljoint/top mount issues I've had) Decided I'm going to have the spare sprayed up for now and then source another spare.

Still Mark? Fancy sending me one? LOL!

    Run off the road.

It could be, doesn't look to have damaged the wheel, but by the time I've fecked about with it, is it worth it???? You don't still have the spare from your ph1 do you Budge?
  23. Rob

    Run off the road.

Cheers mate, I had your bullets on and all was looking tasty, I'd even got rid of my knock, now I'll be lucky not to have killed something else suspension related! If anyone see's a single o.z f1 come up for sale, let me know please.
  24. Rob

    Run off the road.

Yeah I hope so Budge, was going to ask you if you still had the spare off the ph1 or if Vish had it? I'm pretty good with a spray can, so may try it myself first, but I'll probably c**k it up... lol! Hopefully if I can just get it prep'd and sprayed black then someone else can do the green and...

    Run off the road.

Did he stop? Did he f**k! I don't even know if he noticed. If I coulda caught him, there would have been some row. Realise it could have been a lot worse, but seriously, not what I need on a Thursday morning. Yeah I'm not alright, but my wallet is crying, this month I'd finally got my my...

    Clio 1.2 16v MPG, against a DCI

I know you work for Renault, but that can't be true, well at least not 100% of the time. My 1998 1.2 8v had a 50 or 55 litre tank.

    evolution of a ph1 172

Very nice mate, think it looked best on the 2118's though.

    Run off the road.

I don't seem to have much luck with this car in general it seems: Today, whilst going along my merry way, on a dual lane road (with bus lane), the nice fellow next to me decides he likes my lane better. With his music obviously too loud (could not hear me beep) he continues to move towards me...

182 Cup Air Con Evaporator Replacement - anyone done it?

what is the evaporator? Have honestly never heard of it. Replace my own condenser last week but not sure what bit you're on about?

    The Ubervan

<3 the van. You need to keep putting miles on it pronto though (it'll wonder what's going on otherwise) lol! If you want any help with the company logo on the van, let me know. (Sometimes it works out quite a lot cheaper if you get a illustrator file completely ready and just pay for a company...
