Sim Rigs - Let’s see yours

Cost is a factor too - can pick up a decent VR headset for £200-£300 whereas a biiig monitor is a lot more.

Sim Rigs - Let’s see yours

Oh wow, VR headsets are cheap on eBay these days. I didn't get any nausea issues when I tried an Oculus Rift a year or two back, but sold it because honestly I wasn't sold on the VR gaming experience. Very tempted to pick something up for racing sims. And VR p**n, obviously.

Sim Rigs - Let’s see yours

Nice :) Maybe one day, but for now I literally just want to dip a toe in the water and see if it's something I will enjoy. Honestly I have a lot of fun just playing from keyboard (I know, crazy deviant fool!) but I'm pretty sure it would be even more enjoyable if I wasn't setting everything up...

Sim Rigs - Let’s see yours

Bump! I've realised that when I'm gaming on my PC these days, it's almost always a racing sim. I have a Logitech G29 wheel and pedals, but I don't use them because I find the pedals really uncomfortable from my office chair, and if I have the chair low enough then the steering wheel is too...

Best place for JC5-130 bearing kit

The only answer I've got is "inside a JC5 130 gearbox" But that would make me a total t**t, so I won't say that. Oh. Whoops. 🤷‍♂️

    70 year old 500kw rectifier

They are really cool, last I heard there are still some actually in use powering lifts and suchlike. They’re too inefficient for industrial use any more.

    The Apple Watch Thread

I bought one of these for charging, I find it much more convenient than just having the charger loose https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07Q3RM18M/?tag=cliospnet01-21

    The Apple Watch Thread

I've got an SE from November 2020 and the battery is still fine, lasts a couple of days for me but I'm a pretty light user.

    Apple Vision Pro

This is where I think Apple have really got it right and changed the game. Everyone else has built hardware in search of a use, Apple have built an actual computing environment with hardware to support it. Software has always been their differentiator - sure, they make nice hardware at a premium...

    Apple Vision Pro

I'm glad it exists purely because of the storm of fuckwittery it's unleashed on the BBC's have your say forum. How can people who know so little comment with such certainty

    Apple Vision Pro

I'm really excited for it, but honestly it depends how much of what it promises it can actually do. It's going to all be about the quality of the screens, the optics and the software. What they are promising in the demos is a long way ahead of what's been possible up until now, specifically in...

Want a better sounding exhaust for Clio 2009 1.2 16v

That's a good shout, intake noise is cool :) As to where to get a cherry bomb, there are tons of stockists, even demon tweeks do them so have a google.

The Power PC Thread [f*ck off consoles]

Should have said, I'm planning to have it hooked to a TV and use a Stadia controller for input so something that retains button mappings etc would be excellent. There will be a wireless keyboard attached too, but ideally as controller-centric as possible.

The Power PC Thread [f*ck off consoles]

Slightly random question, I have a one of those little NUC-a-like tiny form factor PCs with a mighty two core four thread i3 in it and I was thinking it would make a nice little retro emulation system. It's been a while since I properly looked into anything like this and things have obviously...

Want a better sounding exhaust for Clio 2009 1.2 16v

Depends what you're looking for in terms of noise, but there's always a cherry bomb backbox if you want louder and raspier. It's a decent enough little engine but it's not a very nice sounding one unfortunately.

    Traction control removed

You'll probably be OK, depends how well the tester knows the 182 as they might twig the button has been removed. IIRC it's stability control not just traction control, so it's testable. These are the criteria: You must check all vehicles fitted with electronic stability control other than Class...

Another car gone, and one bought. X5 3.0d.

The Power PC Thread [f*ck off consoles]

It will either just stop working one day or you’ll start to get frequent crashing/reboots/display corruption. Honestly I wouldn’t worry about it, if it’s still doing everything you need then crack on. You might want to consider refreshing the thermal paste at some point if cpu or GPU temps...

The Power PC Thread [f*ck off consoles]

I guess they figured their reputation is now so strong that they can make more money with lower margins on higher volume if they position themselves at that price point. Proper gateway drug to Fanatec kit

Before I stick them up for sale elsewhere, any interest in an i7-11700 and 16Gb of 3200 DDR4 (2x8Gb)? £175 for the i7, £30 for the memory, £200 for all of it.

The Power PC Thread [f*ck off consoles]

Sadly not, warranty expired. I'm still not 100% sure if it's dead dead or whether it's just some weird incompatibility between this motherboard and that card, who knows..... 6700 XT is doing the business nicely now so that's all good.

Another car gone, and one bought. X5 3.0d.

You might have a leak, it had both the washer pumps replaced when I had it as it was pissing the fluid out of the reservoir rather than putting it on the screen. Doesn't mean one hasn't gone bad, but they were done IIRC. Should be an invoice in the history file. It will do low 30's MPG on a...

The Power PC Thread [f*ck off consoles]

Cool, that's what I'm hoping and also what the reviews seem to suggest, especially with the driver improvements AMD have made since launch. Given the price I'd be perfectly happy with parity or even a slight drop in performance.

The Power PC Thread [f*ck off consoles]

Nice :) I wanted something new with a warranty and a 3080 is overkill for me TBH, I was perfectly happy with the 3060Ti. Only went with the 6700 XT as it was priced in line with the non-Ti 3060s but sits somewhere between the 3060Ti and 3070. Don't tend to use ray tracing or DLSS so hopefully it...

The Power PC Thread [f*ck off consoles]

Damn. My 3060Ti is dead, it has ceased to be, it pines for the fjords no more. I am currently rocking a GeForce GT 730, as it's all I had lying around. Oh yes. Feel the power. The 3060Ti always did well for me, but I've snagged a Radeon 6700 XT for £340 as a replacement. Graphics card market...

    Iwatch recording exercise?

Yes, you can. It’s not there by default but it’s just a case of clicking add workout and picking it from the list. Not sure if it will fix the fall detection though.
