Thanks Nigel.
I'm not disputing the fact that my car does NOT weigh 654 kgs - see the close to my video clip.
What I am saying, is that in principle the method works (notwithstanding my erroneous results of course!). All 4 wheels were level regardless of their being weighed or not. Weight...
See my post above.
You are saying that the weight under the wheel of a car depends on if it has a scale beneath it or not - which is obviously not correct.
That doesn't make sense. Think about it...
There are 4 scales, 1 under each wheel, each saying (for arguments sake) 250 kgs - so total weight equals 1,000 kgs. That works according to your theory.
Now imagine 3 of them are not scales, but platforms exactly the same height as the scale. Does...
If that's the case, why do these work?
This is what I was replicating, but I only had the one scale, so I had to move that around one wheel at a time.
I've tried the weighbridge thing, but my Cup doesn't weigh 1,240 kgs.
If you look you'll see I did actually have the car level all the time I was weighing.
I started off using pallets under each wheel, but they were too big to get under each wheel so I substituted stacking card to the same height as the weighing pallet truck.
Take stack of card out, put scales...
It is great isn't it.
I'm thinking of offering it as a cost effective upgrade service to fellow Cliosporters.
;)
Glad you all like the video. Wasn't going to pull one together when I saw the final figure, but then I got that music in my head so I had to.
Obviously something not quite...
Actually they're not too bad during normal driving. On my commute they're silent, I barely use the brakes and the pads and the discs don't really bite together with light pressure.
Once I do a few stops though, they're in. They work fine, but respond very well to heating.
High speed, firm...
Correct, pause, recover.
There's always the slightest of pauses, and as soon as you feel that you've got to get the lock back off quickly.
Doing it too slowly or too late means it goes the other way.
I travel down a lot of narrow tree-lined unlit country roads, and on my way home tonight I noticed a flash (quick like a camera flash but not as bright) out of the drivers window everytime I came off the brakes.
So I wound the window down, stuck my head out, and did a few hard stops - I was...
That would make good YouTube material though.
I'll stick to some solid Chep pallets I think. Added bonus is it'll all be colour coded for the video then.
Seems quite light...stripped?
Tried a weighbridge, it gave erroneous results - no way my car weighs 1,240 kgs.
Can't be bothered with trying to find another weighbridge. I walk past our weighing pallet truck 20 times a day, and I've got stacks of pallets at my disposal - plus a couple of warehouse bodies to help me do the...
