I've just been out on a set of Dunlop D01J's that haven't seen tarmac for at least 8-9 months.
I was running pressures too high (30 psi), they're only 195's (normally I run 205 track tyres), and I obviously couldn't get any serious heat into them on public roads...but I was surprised at how...
The thing is, it's a car, not some sentimental unreplaceable diamond ring handed down by your Granny.
Cars are consumables, not investments. They depreciate regardless of what you do to them, and being anally retentive over tar spots, or brake dust is sad IMO too.
£4,500 cost to change sounds like a good deal to me Dan, and saves all the f****** about with random tyre kickers & test pilots.
Get down there with a bundle of notes and snap it up!
^^^ yep it does.
But would you trust a total stranger with £7k of your hard earned because they "looked ok"?
You hand over the cash, take the car with no V5. You apply for a V5 and find out it's stolen. The rozzers take the car back and you're left with f*** all.
From a dealership maybe...
Rentech win for me all day long.
Mike worked for a Renault dealer until they lost their franchise and he set-up on his own.
My Cup has been in his capable hands every 6k from new, and he recently did my 72k + cambelt.
Top bloke, top service...well worth 1hr drive down from Guildford. He'll...
All 172's have hydraulic steering - the non-sport Clio's have electric.
There's no difference in steering between a FF or a Cup for either 172 or 182.
The rest is right though ;)
I LOL at that.
Maybe we should start a thread titled "Petrol owners 5lag off diesels, and diesel owners/lovers defend" and make it a sticky?
I reckon it would beat the wife/girlfried picture thread for posts.
Try hitting your throttle body with a hammer ;) ...the MAF sensor inside might be playing up.
When mine went it started hunting and wouldn't respond to inputs.
2 hr drive down to Rentech in Portsmouth? - guaranteed you will not get ripped off (probably half what a Renault dealer would quote), and the service is second to none.
I'm looking at the recent one they've released that uses an MX-5 as a donor.
I think that'd be spot on.
I'm sure 140 bhp is enough...probably near 250 bhp/ton?
You'd need to spend a few more grand yet to get your car up near that Mark LOL
Around the Haynes sprint track there was almost nothing between the 172/182's and Valvers/Williams (OK...the Williams were a little bit quicker ;) ). The really tight bit's were hard work in the 172/182's...all that extra weight makes a huge difference.
Around Brands, the Williams/Valvers can...
