Its not that dangerous at all, just don't do it in an enclosed space make sure its well ventilated. Outside would be ideal with the boot and doors open. I'd worry more about the fumes getting to you before I worried about them going up.

If you want a more purple tinge then get 6000k bulbs rather than the standard 4300k's there much more a bluey/purple colour.

Mine work brilliantly tbh, the only time they have trouble is with a greasy/dirty screen. Don't think turning the auto lights off turns the auto wipers off as well, think there permanent.

As said from 03 onwards they only fitted one lock to save money, its on the passenger side because on a left hooker thats the drivers side.

Changing the box is straightfoward enough, nothing special anyway. Wouldn't have thought a replacement box would be that much for the 1.4 imagine it'll be a JB1 box you'll be after.

Most will fit. Its more a question of which ones won't fit.

As said the service light isn't a service indicator, its there to indicate a problem with something.

Is easy enough to strip and clean them, only do one side at a time though so you know where all the springs go.

I get the service light on its own when i've blown a fuse. Its not a service indicator, its indicating a problem somewhere.

Had my super t's done a couple of months ago, s**t hot job. Can't recommend them enough really.

The JC5 box in the 172 doesn't have syncro on reverse so if the shaft is spinning then it'll grind when you try and select it, though as long as your stopped them it shouldn't grind at all. If you clutch and stop then select reverse does it grind? If your trying to rush it it won't have it...

Incartec is the only option atm afaik and there ££££.

5w40 fully synth is the general concensus but you can use a variety of viscosities depending on the temp it needs to be used down to.

As much difference as one is going to make.

Theres also the incartec options which you don't have to remove the dash for and imo are far better.

Of course it can be "gone", theres a lot more to wear out in a clutch than the friction material. I had a pressure plate fail in a lot less than that!
