    Alternator Connector

The little black connector? It has a little clip on the end closest to the alternator body, needs lifting up.

    182_steve's FF 182 progress thread!

Guaranteed to be leaking from either the rocker cover or the sump.

    Squeaky brakes

Did they clean the discs when they put them on? HC's comes with a coating of light oil to stop them rusting in storage, this will contaminate the pads if left on. The pads may not be bedded in quite right too. Glazed pads can cause squeaking.

    Bloody hell :openmouth:

    172 speaker wire - & +

I'm guessing the meter will have AC and DC settings. If so, make sure it's on DC (the straight line symbol not the wavey one). Edit: Actually, are speakers AC?

Did it unlock ok and try to crank over?

    Sup with it you reckon?

Does anybody know what this cover/protector was for?

Just a generic cover that mechanics put over wings when working in the engine bay. Car need metal wings for the this though, and as it's Snap-On it'll be American based so their cars tend to be all steel panels.

Is it possible to turn off airbag light with airbag ecu removed?

Yeah the SERV light always comes on with another light apart from the rain/light sensor on the windscreen if that's unplugged it will just bring the SERV light on, as someone on here discovered recently.

ClioSport Festival 2018 - Book Tickets & Track Time Now!

Should be in TIDL, but as it's CSF related i'll post it here. Cocked up and booked BTCC at Knockhill for the Sunday, so i'll have to leave Saturday night 😞 At least i'll get the track time in and i'll probably stay for the evening food too.

Is it possible to turn off airbag light with airbag ecu removed?

My SERV and Airbag light come on now and again if i go over bumps. I have standard seats but aftermarket steering wheel (with resistors). Could i use your method to stop the light coming on?

    Strange electrical issues...

That voltage is correct. Try the earth's.
  16. Mr Trailer Man

    Strange electrical issues...

Check the battery and alternator. The power steering is electric on these, so a low voltage would cause issues there.

Forotten how to put the injection system back together!

Bloody hell, you've had a nightmare there haven't you 😂 Budgie will know where all of those connectors plug into.

    Brake Fluid

    I suppose everyone brakes differently.
  19. Mr Trailer Man

    Brake Fluid

Ahh right. Weird, because everyone i know swears by it. Motul RBF660 is good but SRF is better.
  20. Mr Trailer Man

    Brake Fluid

Surprised at that because SRF is about the best you can get :openmouth: Sure it wasn't the pad material compressing? Some do when really hot.

    Another Impact Wrench question...

Yours should have a setting which stops impacting when it senses that the bolt has stopped turning, handy for nipping things up.

    Help finding battery drain

My recent battery drain was sorted by replacing the alternator, dodgey diodes. What does the draw go down to when you take the live off the alternator?
  23. Mr Trailer Man

    Steering wheel vibration

Pad deposits on the discs, pretty common for track use. Pretty hard to clean up but you’ll need to get them hot to do it. A more track orientated pad will help.

    Alternator

Make sure it is the alternator first before buying one. A loose wire on the battery will bring up the same lights.
  25. Mr Trailer Man

    Another Impact Wrench question...

That last bit isn’t quite true. A 15 stone bloke standing on a 2ft breaker bar is only generating 420ft lbs of torque or 570Nm. The top impact guns have a breakaway torque of 1400Nm.
  26. Mr Trailer Man

    Alternator

Highly recommend getting a genuine Valeo one. Cheaper motor factors ones never last. Renault Wolverhampton are about the cheapest at about £180-90. Or see if someone is selling one on here.
  27. Mr Trailer Man

Help I’m an idiot sounds like diesel

How did the stone get in, that must be some s**t luck.
  28. Mr Trailer Man

    Engine problems

You can rebuild it if you want, but I'd expect the crank to be scored as well. Cheaper to drop a new engine in. Why was it ran so low on oil?

    The Dog Kennel

    Fair play.
