    180bhp+ out of a 172.

Not true. At all. Driving at 5/10 with correct technique, will be quicker than driving at 5/10 with poor technique.

    Big Brakes on 172

? Calm down dear, it was tongue in cheek. As said, I've been on track with 2 cars running the kit. The one I passengered in was quicker than mine, as his was highly modified, but there was no difference in braking ability. It's not a criticism of the kit, I just think the standard set-up is...

Something I think I'm going to get more of next year. Difficult to know who to use, good driver doesn't necessarily mean good teacher!

It was the boss (Hugh) that I used. Brilliant. He tears your driving to pieces, but in a constructive, gentle way. Ie, he doesn't make you feel like an idiot. There's some basic stuff covered (looking further up the road, positioning the car etc) but also car control, balance, and you find...

Depends what you're after tbh. I've used these guys http://www.cadence.co.uk/ I need to book a day next year, might book them for a day on track as well.

Tom has a point. I doubt there's many on here that have spent their hard earned on tuition (not just on track, road as well) as having something you 'physically get' for your money seems more appealing to most. It might be a good idea, but most would rather spend the money on the car, as they...

As above, I would only go to Angelowrks.

    Big Brakes on 172

Actually, that's 2 cars if it's who I think you're talking about! Didn't drive, went out as a passenger.

The only place I'd get matched inlets from is Angelworks. Good luck!

    Big Brakes on 172

Oh, and as far as pads lasting. Me and Fred changed my pads/discs dec 08. I just had to change the pads 1 week ago. 18k miles, and 7 track days.

    Big Brakes on 172

I disagree, I was on track with one of your customers. No difference in stopping power. End of the day, it's a fraction over a ton! The standard set-up set shorter stopping distances than a F360 and a 996 when Autocar did the ph1 road test.

Why bother tbh? Won't make a drastic difference (or massively noticeable) to the speed of the car. Do some trackdays, take some tuition, and you'll be far quicker than having an extra 10bhp.

    They're not required. End of.

    Odd misfire

A certain T Hunter. 1st time all day he wasn't smoking iirc. (Must stress there's no blame attached, the exhaust didn't fit correctly!)

    Odd misfire

You'll laugh when you hear who was driving it when the exhaust dropped.......
  17. ForceIndia

    Odd misfire

That's what I wondered. Hopefully the sensor side, not the loom side! I'll find out tomorrow if that's the issue, if not I'll need to borrow a can of fuel, and some matches.

    wlliams or ph1 172

To look at it from another perspective, weight is the enemy of performance. New cars get heavier and heavier.
  20. ForceIndia

    Odd misfire

Not that I know of. Was running like a peach, until the exhaust dropped out of it's mount at Oulton on the RS day. Thanks for the offer. I'll most likely borrow the suspension and the new engine;)

    Odd misfire

Ok, done so far: -New spark plugs -New leads -New MAP sensor -New coil pack -Cleaned earth points (except the one on the back of the gearbox, will do tomorrow) -Changed all injectors -Had code reader on, no faults registering Still f**king misfiring! Happens when cold and hot. Changed the coil...

    172 ph1 or ph2

Having owned them all, the ph1 is my preference. The interiors not great, but easily rectified if you're bothered. Nearly the same weight as a cup, but you get ac. On 15's, which they work better with. Mine comes in at under a ton with only slight strippage. Throttle cable is just more 'fun' as...

    The life of... SharkyUK's Trophy

As far as brakes are concerned, 4pots are overkill imo. I've been on track twice with cars running 4pots. Neither had more stopping power than mine (uprated pads/discs/lines etc). And fade's not an issue for mine (now I've bled the brakes!). End of the day it's a light car.

New Suspension advise - 172 Cup

Yeah, they ride/handle differently. The damping and springs are different. Basically the shell is koni, the internals are kw spec.
