24mpg average , if you do alot of town driving sounds about right to me . That's roughly what i used to average on my 172 , and that was from new . Same with my 182 , from new again . I have a very heavy right foot though ;-) . 18mpg sounds a bit low though .
Your air filter is an " open filter " now . Why remove the acoustic valve ? It's not linked to your air box anymore so will make no difference whatsoever .
The one with the yellow ring round goes to your throttle body , the 2 with the red rings round are your cold air feeds . One goes down into the wheel arch to the acoustic valve , the other is a shorter one and just goes behind the headlight are thereabouts . So you'll need these as well if the...
Have a look for Surething cd/ dvd labeller . You can make or print on dvd's and cd's if your printer is capable , also does any kind of cover you require .

I had this problem on my 172 a few years ago . It would hesitate and judder under load until above 2k revs or thereabouts , above that it ran fine . There were no codes either . I had the spark plugs changed and that sorted it out .
