Having owned both, I'd rather a ph2 172 than a 182. No difference in speed, the exhaust costs less when (not if) it falls off, you get a spare wheel, and 35mpg v 32mpg. And far nicer colour range.
c**t of a corner, I got a passenger ride from a Jag test/development driver and he was struggling there. Burp suggested trying 3rd gear, going to give it a whirl next time.
You can get the wheel retrimmed in leather cheap.

You won't get 5.7 out of the ek9, iirc that time was set using one of the super stripped versions, not the standard road car. And they are pretty old. Depends what you want really, meg 225?
Good review/write up. I never a big fan of the 197, not quick enough or fun enough IMO. Every head to head review with the Trophy I read agreed with this (Evo, PC mag) and the Trophy was slightly quicker around Bedford (same driver same day).
Looks like the 200 blows them both away. 10mph...
