I'm not sure how something that isn't due for at least a year can be used as a bartering point. If it was overdue then yes, due in a few weeks ok but due in 3 years (it's 6 years on the 200) or 16,000 miles is just a part of owning the car. My service is due in September, I bought the car in...

The cup shock absorber won't affect the hight, that will be the spring - however you will still need to change it as the dampers are uprated (+15%?) on the cup models. It may well sit level but will ride funny due to the differing damping rates
Engines generate heat, the temperature gauge shows you this, it's entirely normal.
unless of course you mean it's going higher than normal? Your explanation isn't very clear to be honest.
If the discs & pads look ok, it could be pad deposits on the disc. Do you sit at traffic lights with your foot on the brake, or do you use the handbrake?
I settled on the Michelin PS3's in the end, being fitted Saturday. I've got some Gtechnic C5 Wheel Armour to go on tonight too.
I got the tyres for £114 each fitted through Black Circles, as well as almost 1,000 clubcard point which is a nice bonus.
Thanks for the advice guys
Chris
I'm pretty sure the Formula Ford's run the 1.6 200ps version of the ecoboost engine. I think the 1.0 version was just a marketing/engineering excercise.
Aside from the RenaultSport models I think the rest of the MK3 range probably had the same setup (260mm?)
What's wrong with the current set-up? pretty sure it should be able to handle 86bhp fairly easily as it'll be the same as the TCE setup.
Put it this way, i'm getting more to the gallon now with a turbochared 2.5 5 pot turbo lump with 100bhp and 150lb-ft more torque oh, and 50kg more weight than I ever did in my 197.
I think i'm down to the Bridgestone S001 or Uniroyal RainSport 3's.. I had Rainsport 2's on my 197 and was pleased with them, but something about the S001's is drawing me in.
There's a wildcard too, Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta's are appealing but that's mainly due to the way they look!

So today's update is - front brakes!
Picked these up about 14:30 this afternoon, they are calipers from a Focus ST, along with a new set of 320mm discs and pads (the riginals are 300mm)
This was how they looked when collected from Nottingham ford breakers:-
This is the original set up...
Im aware of the block issue, to my knowledge even the st is pretty safe at 330-350bhp. Having said that, I'm planning on shimming the block when I do the cambelt later this year to ensure reliability.
All I can assume with the exhaust is that the Volvo unit is more restrictive than the ST and...
