    Write off valuation issues.

Don't some policys say that they will provide a brand new car of the same specification in the event of it being written off < 12 months old? I know my wifes policy does on her car. That's with Churchill.

    IT in 10 Years

They don't give it away! Surely the PC manufacturer pays something for the software licence! If you buy a system from somewhere like eBuyer you can buy OS free for a reduced cost which clearly shows to me that Microsoft receive something for the OS........... or am I missing something?

    Should i get 180/197/200?

On your own policy? or as a named driver?

Guy from work buys clio rs200.. Crashes it two days later.. With pics!

Personally I'd want that looking at professionally. It the inner wing or chassis leg may have taken a whack.

How much is a clio 200 pre cat worth?

I'm guessing he's replaced it for a y pipe of some sort? Big job that as the manifold has to come off to get at it? The pre-cat is only small isn't it? I can't see it being worth much personally.

Recall letter for my MK3 from Lifestyle Renault.

Sounds like a marketing scam to me! It's just to get you through the door!

    Pretty much yeah

    Coilovers on clio 197

Please don't do this. Buy a 1.2 or something if you want to 'slam' it. What is the point in having one of the best handling hot hatches available and then not being able to drive it in the way it was designed?

    Zenon brightness

I can't answer your question, but it's xenon, not zenon. Chris

Engine reving to hard at height speeds will it break

The limit is 70, nobody is going to help you with 'sitin at 110-flat out' also, 110 isn't flat out. However, having said that, 110 for long periods won't cause any issues.

Laptop Based ECU Code Reader/Data reader?

I have a cable and software called odbwiz, seems to read most things quite well.

    Removing cambelt

I was suprised when I read this in Renaults own manual! I presumed they would have some elaborate and expensive tool but now 'jam a screwdriver in the flywheel' is the answer!

    Removing cambelt

Don't take this the wrong way, but if you don't know how to get the pulley off then are you sure removing the head is a job you should be doing? Do you have the tools for timing it back up?

    Gearbox Removal/Driveshaft Problem

Any sentence begining with the word 'Apparently' tends to be bullsh!t

    Brembo dust seals

Yes they are the same (however, they do list a set for the 225/230 etc)

    Brembo dust seals

I think i'll have a go at them myself. I'll remove them, sand them down as smooth as possible and paint them up. I need to do the rears too. Now to decide on a colour........!?
  18. Chrisgti6

    Brembo dust seals

I've said above, the plan is some HEL lines and ATE super blue fluid. Any ideas on what's best to do with the calipers? I want a good finish so brush on caliper paint is out of the equation. Can you get high temp lacquer to go over high temp paint? Or shall i find somewhere to powdercoat?

    Are my tyres legal?

I'm not 100% sure about the thread wear, however the tyre with a split in the wall definately wouldn't pass an MOT. Personally I wouldn't use them.

    Can you clean a flywheel?

Definately overpriced at £120! I had a GTI-6 flywheel skimmed a coupld of years back, that cost me £30 and was turned around in 24 hours.
  21. Chrisgti6

    Brembo dust seals

Probably never, however mine look to have reacted to something (maybe brake cleaner?) and have disformed (see below!) It's a good excuse to get them powder coated or painted also (and maybe some hel lines and ATE superblue)

    Brembo dust seals

Oh yeah, that makes sense. They just look odd layed out like that! Chris

    Lowering Issue: Gearbox oil leak

If the shaft is back in place then yes, it'll be fine. The Passenger shaft isn't secured in place so it is easy to pull it out of the gearbox (as you found out!) But as long as you've bolted it back together properley it'll be fine!

    Looking to buy 197/200

The fact it says it's 212 bhp but no mention of cams etc would put me off! Looks a decent car though
  25. Chrisgti6

    Lowering Issue: Gearbox oil leak

How much oild did you lose? It's normal for oil to leak out if you pull the driveshaft out, as long as you didn't lose loads I wouldn't worry. If a substantial amount leaked then it wants topping up.

    Brembo dust seals

Spot on, thanks. I can't believe I haven't found that. I've been seaching for Brembo repair etc etc but didn't manage to spot them. Any idea what the small bits at the top of the picture are?

    197 calliper bolt size?

I use one of my drain plug set to undo the calipers, might be 12mm?
  28. Chrisgti6

    197 calliper bolt size?

Yes, knock the pins out and they will (eventually) slide out.

    Brembo dust seals

Fred, if you could post the details when you have them it would be greatly appreciated!
