    Looking to buy 197/200

The gearbox issue is definately not unique to the 197! Plenty of low mileage 200s have had them replaced too. It seems very random. My 65k R27 has no gearbox issues and arguably has less 'issues' than a lot of cars with much lower miles. Moral of the story is don't be scared of something with...

I'm using an Apple TV3, with Plex media server running on my PC (located in the loft) I airplay from the iPad/iPhone to the Apple tv using the Plex app. Once playing you can use the remote for play/pause etc. Sometime i'll convert to MP4 and run through itunes, depends how much of a rush i'm in!.

    197 cam options

Morning guys, What are the options for cams on the 197? I'm going to be doing the belts some time in the not to distant future and budget dependent may decide to stick a set of cams in at the same time. The rest of the car is standard, inlet, exhaust etc and apart from a panel filter it will...

    K Tec Coilies adjustment help.

Wouldn't you just measure it on the coilover? If you want to drop 2" then wind the platform down 2"? Or am I over simplifying it?

    Changing pads on CS197 Brembo's

The fronts just push in mate, the rears need winding. You'll want a decent punch to knock the retaining pins out.

Go through insurance or get them to replace the bumper ?

Have you had the car checked over? It is possible that more damage has been done than meets the eye remember. You don't want to settle for a new bumper only to find in 6 months time that the floor pan has taken a whack.

    Cheap ly r27

I wouldn't say it was cheap, but at the same time it's not expensive either. It's probably about what it's worth these days. Prices have dropped on the 197's quite considerably over the last 12 months. Last year when I was looking for an R27, LY was £8-9k no matter what the age, spec, mileage...

Depends what category it's written off as. Cat D - Nothing, just repair and drive. Cat C - Requires a VIC test.

Surely it forms part of the deceased estate, and is subject to their will (if they had one) surely it can't just be sold on until will etc is sorted out?

Clio MKIII Some heating settings not working

Mine only works on number 4 when it feels like it. Some days it works fine, the next it won't. I see it as a quirk, maybe even a bit of character definately not a fault :D

    First service

Stick to a standard air filter. Best bet to check what the last service consisted of, you may not need spark plugs for instance. Oil, Oil filter, air filter, pollen filter (if it has one) and fuel filter (if its a servicable type) is what I would be changing, and maybe plugs if needed. Do you...

    drying out headlight

I've had this problem before, on a Peugeot 307. Silica gel works very well (the little paper sachet's you get in show boxes etc). You can get a brand of cat litter that is made of silica gel from Pets at Home, I used some of this tied up in a pair of tights to make a small pouch of it. Wedged...

    Clio 200 remap?

No doubt there are many threads about this on here and on clio200.net. As long as you are doing it for the right reason (driveability, not out and out power gains) then yes it will be well worth doing

    197 Exhaust on a 172?

It wouldn't be a simple bolt on job of course, but at the end of the day it's just some bits of metal pipework so easy enough to chop about and make it fit eventually. You do realise that the std 197 exhaust tips are black and hidden don't you? the only properly visible ones have had tailpipes...

    197 Exhaust on a 172?

My question would be why? Yes it would be do-able but i can't see a single reason for doing it

What do you use your ipad for?

    Jetwash my engine?

It will be much quicker and easier to buy a decent engine degreaser and do it by hand. You'll have a lot more control with a hose pipe or watering can and you can get the same result
