I've got a 129 box that I'll be refurbing and selling shortly if you're interested mate. Pm me if you are. This was my original gearbox, so I know the history of it and what it needs.
You'll get marginally better acceleration and due to the cw&p ratio being different, it'll be slightly more lively on track as well due to being slightly higher up the rpm band.
No compression. That's either dropped a valve or the belts jumped a tooth/failed. It spins over way to easily. Or, the oils come from where it's thrown a leg out the bed.
If anyone is interested in the shell, please get in touch. I'll be making a start on dismantling the car over the coming weeks.
The shell will come with all panels, p4p polycarbs, rear beam with PMS bearing kit, GENUINE Renaultsport mk3 cup racer roof vent, flocked dash, weld in seat rails...
It depends on what bearing setup is in the box tbh. The input shaft is slightly different in a box that requires preload on the input shaft compared to one that doesn't. The casings themselves are identical to look at until you open them up and find that the bearing setup is different.
Just thought - you're on the earlier PMS brackets. Mine are the later design ones, and these had some clearance designed into them, so that could well be where your problem is stemming from mate.
You've altered the scrub radius geometry, which is generally a bad thing to do, although you've not gone far over the oe setup tbh.
What's your tracking like? You may need to experiment with different settings to get the front end feel back, and it may even require some toe in.
You need to be checking the voltage going to pump and also the fuel pressure. I can't remember if they're 3bar or 3.5bar static tbh, but without those 2 readings you'll be clutching at straws until you find something.
Thanks for the kind words mate. I'm sure parts of the cup will live on on the forum anyway.
Yeah this is it mate. I've been messing about with cars since I was 17/18 and I'm now 37, so it's time for a break. And 2 wheels.
Well the Hurricane was THE unsung hero of the Battle of Britain. Yes, it...
Yeah it's a shame there aren't any 2 seater Hurricanes as that would be my first choice, or even a mosquito tbh!!
Yes I agree mate it is a shame, but everything has a beginning and an end. Thank you for the kind words, I really appreciate that people have taken the time to read through the...
Onwards and upwards though I suppose mate. It will also give me a potential opportunity to carry out something that's been a childhood dream of mine - to fly in a Spitfire.
So you've got another forged engine then? Or are you running oem pistons? I know of Ray West. Met him at the Nurburgring one year when I was there as he was staying in the same hotel as me!
Lol you'll need over 230hp to get the heavy 200 moving! Wasn't an issue in my lightweight cup.
Is it a bottom end or top end knock? If it's a bottom end knock I'd say it's spun the centre main bearing. Just like they all seem to do! If it is, it'll be terminal I'm afraid mate.
Well seeing as the maxi evo clios couldn't do better than 180lbft I'd definitely call your 195lbft into question. I wouldn't be surprised if the catcams aren't the cause of your problems tbh mate, as it wouldn't be the first time I've heard of them having incorrect timing marks and causing...
