Arnold Clark just caled and said it was a blocked EGR valve that was causing the black smoke! They have cleaned it and the problem has been resolved.
What would cause this to become cloged? Should they realy have replaced it? Is cleaning it a cop out?

Cheers guys.
If I could get 5k for it and pick up a sport for 5.5 - 6k the insurance is an extra £600 a year plus an extra £100 for tax so i am looking at 1.5 - 2k to make the switch. Sounding good to me :-)
Obviously the running costs would go up as well but like I say I don't travel...
I notice there are a lot of cups going for very reasonable prices just now. I am no longer doing 100 mile a day trips to work so I don't really need the DCI for my 4 mile round trip!
It is an 04 plate Dynamique 21k miles on the clock had new break pads and discs and front tyres at it's 18k...
I see a few posts about the DCI injectors going and being very expensive to replace. I have a few questions :-
People say get the car serviced more regularly like every 9000 fair enough.
They say use a quality fuel. Does this mean just don't use supermarket stuff or is there one...
Cheers. Booked in for a check on Thursday. Spoke to the mechanic on the phone said it could be the EGR valve, turbo going or the intercooler going.
It is only a DCI 65 so don't think it has an intercooler.
He told me what could happen if it is the turbo going. Sounds scary. Something...
Cheers All. Assuming that it is that problem. Will it do the car any damage to drive it? I need to drive to work on Monday. Onyl a 10 min drive. I assume I have been driving it about with the probelm alredy as it wasn't till people I know were following me that it was spotted.

Hi,
A few people have mentioned that my clio dci is putting out black smoke when i take of or chaneg gears. What could this be? I have also noticed it sin't quite as responsive. It has only done 20k miles and I still have around a years warrenty so I will book it in. Just woudl like to know...
Yeah the breaks work. I kinda guessed it was that.
U know how it is though when u see a new gap that wasn't there before!! :)
I got new disks and pads so the gap is probably even further highlighted by the fact that everything is new!!
Cheers
Album 172!! shame i have a DCI :-)

here is the pic I will try and get soem better ones if this doesnt explain. Basicaly these two parts used to meet with no gap.
Cheers Dave
Cause I got my car serviced by my favoured mechanic and not the dealer he didn't stamp the corrosion check box in the service book.
Does this need done at 18k the same as the first dci service?
Can I just book it into renult for the corrosion check do i need to?
Cheers in advance

Yeah just got it done by my regular guy. I trust him kept my megane going to 120k miles with no major problems. He is VAT registered so can do the service work and stamp the book.
I reckon for just under 2 years driving 375 isnt too bad :)
I should do some of it my self just lazy...
Didn't get it done at the stealer
To be honest I can't really fault the guy who fixed the car he is a top guy and a good mechanic. I just wonder if i should have told him to leave the warped discs and tried to get them done under warrenty.
Don't think the price is that bad for all the work...
