The pulsar plenum ain't actually that bad tbh Steven. I used one to fabricate my custom inlet plenum for my turbo vauxhall engine. Happily did 420hp @2 bar!
Re: E36 Track Day Hack (v2)
If your struggling to find someone to do the timeserts let me know and I'll point you in the right direction mate. They use the proper timeserts as well = far superior to w**k helicoils.
Re: 'Cub's Trackday Flamer - Cage etc'
Or use an impact gun to tighten them mate. A squirt of loctite around the top of the nut once it's tight also works.
Yeah pretty much mate. It's either a manufacturing defect in the materials or a malfunction inside the gearbox causing it to lock up and snap the weak link. All imo of course tony.
Re: E36 Track Day Hack (v2)
If you use timeserts and fit them properly you'll be fine mate. They won't come out at all. Worth the money mate especially for the weight saving of the ally block imo.
You can make the hoses up yourself if you know what fittings to buy Grant89. It's just a case of searching through earls/goodridge catalogues and ordering the stuff up. Earls will sort you out with the right pipe if you give them a bell. All really helpful chaps.
You'll need to do some port matching to get it to fit mate i'd imagine and iirc you'll have to drill another hole as the bolt pattern to mount it to the head is different. Only one hole different though, the others line up. It's obvious when you see them side by side.
Re: E36 v2
What's the diameter of the pistons on these? Only reason I ask is that you could make a compressor out of nylon and it's a easy material to work with. I had to make one up at work one night on the hurry up for a scania v8 diesel engine. Worked like a dream! You can buy either nylon...
