i've used easy start on common rail in the past, but only on engines over 8litres (they can probably take it better, even tho they knock VERY impressively!!)
but i'll agree its not reccomended on common rail, but fine for 'normal' injector pumps
you can take the pipe off the end of the rail on most...
but im not a reno tech, just a lowly truck fitter LOL
i'd try the easy start and see what happens
i always call it HDI but basically common rail, i see so many in a day i can't remember whats got common rail and what has'nt till i look under the bonnet and i don't want to give out dangerous advice.

bleed it up from the filter head, then try the easy start. it may be HDI i can't remember on this year and i can't be arsed to go and get my book from the van. keep it on the safe side and don't touch the injectors

my first port of call is bleed it up from the filter head and then from the injectors. BUT NEVER EVER EVER CRACK OFF AN INJECTOR ON A HDI IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING !!!! hence the question.
personally i'd try giving it a sniff of easy start while cranking it and see what happens, to...
if you can get it for £80 do it, but if you are applying it yourself you wont get the warranty. which is worth sod all anyway.
